So, how dif are these guys from 40k Blood Angels? Is this discussed anywhere?
Do they do the different colored helmets (yellow = assault, blue = devastator, gold = vetern)
or do they just do ultramarine style squad markings (the arrows and Xs, etc.)

HALP !

unsure on the helmet things, BUT their trims and symbol are mostly black rather than the plain red/gold of 40k.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

They do use 'codex' squad markings.

The Index Astartes Pre-Heresy marine had a yellow smurf style tactical arrow.

Forge World has showed off art of a MkII Blood Angel with black hollow smurf style tactical arrow.

The actual uniform example in Retribution has a black Dark Angel's style tactical arrow.

This is where it gets a bit contradictory however, because the background picture for the pages with the Blood Angels Legiones Astartes & Wargear rules in Retribution has a MkV Assault squad that clearly have much lighter helmet - which would be redundant if they've got a squad emblem, since it serves the same purpose.

I'm no authority on the matter, but I'm using the coloured helmets for my 30k BA. Some one pointed out that the different colours would make it easier to identify units from the air, which was a good enough justification for me! Besides the different colour helmets look cool and not all chapters within the legion would be identical, so you can justify it.
