I've been given a Vostroyan Firstborn Squad, but cannot find the rules for them anywhere (I thought they would be in the Astra Militarum Codex). What would you advise doing? Are there any legacy rules for these stalwart chaps anywhere? Thanks in advance

The only rules they ever had were suggested doctrines for the 3.5 codex which were Special Weapon Squads, Heavy Weapon Squads, Sharpshooters, Carapace Armour and Hardened Fighters.

Closest fit now is to run them as Veteran squads with the Grenadier upgrade.

+1. I have a Vostroyan guard army and that's typically how I run mine.

Veteran squads w/ Grenadiers (Carapace armor) upgrade and often krak grenades too, plus whatever special weapons I prefer for that squad. I have them running in a Chimera or sometimes air-dropping out of a Valkyrie, depending.

That most closely matches what they look like visually. Of course you can run them as regular guardsmen (5+ save), but they're so boss looking that to do anything less than Veterans seems a disservice.

Just my opinion on that. Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

just another pleasing model to look at, I do hope they bring something like the doctrines back, I miss being able to explane how my Steel legion and my Vostroyans are not the same...

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

We only ever get one shot marlin. Life is one shot
