Have been working on some models for Pulp Alley, these are from the Artizan and Copplestone ranges.

Basic colours are ok, and they look a lot better from normal viewing distances, the camera is so cruel, but, well have a look.

There are a few more in a similar form, looking for some advice on finishing them, the faces obviously need something but actually painting eyes is way beyond me so wondering if there is something a clumsy pawed oaf can do to make the faces look a bit more human (and feline)

Also the light clothing needs something more, its a base buff colour and Iraqi sand on the evil Doctor, with a bit of a sepia wash, wondering how to highlight it (after I neaten the wash up a bit), familiar with layering as a technique but find the colour mixing hard to get right so wondering on any simple advice.

Finally really need a way to bring the skin to life, wondering on the women a bit of a salmon rose colour added to the flesh to put a bit more colour on them in a few places but not sure on the evil Doctor.

These are really nice models, which I'm attempting not to utterly ruin and sadly failing.

any advice very welcome, used to painting 15mm where this sort of effect gets lost, 28mm is a bit big and making the shortcomings all too obvious....

help.. please...

I like the models and the detail is fine for that size, my only critique is that you're using a basing material that's too big for the size. Their feet are getting swallowed up in fist sized rocks. Considering just flat bases with something like street or sidewalk textures instead to match an urban environment.

Using a shade my blend the colors together better.

Will give the shade a try, possibly thinned somewhat, your suggest just using it on the transitions I'm guessing?

Tend to agree on the basing being out of scale, the intention is to paint it up as broken earth with a bit of grass and some green dry brushing so it looks like uneven grass but still reasonably neutral.

On reflection a flat filler would have probably been better, wonder if a bit of dilute filler on part of it may work to fill it in a bit?

When I get the time I'll have a bit more of a go.

My thanks, most helpful
