I've been thinking about both fluff and gameplay aspects of skitarii troops and their profile doesn't seem quite right.

Mostly the strength and toughness values of 3 - in a fluff respect they are mostly made of titanium, mechanically augmented and biologically modified to make them extremely resilient and battlefield capable. It all makes them having the same values as imperial guard cannon fodder seem wrong.

In these regards while maybe not quite as technologically advanced they are very similar to necron warriors - being a very similar price, both have decent weaponry and otherwise near identical other profiles, especially the save and FNP/Reanimation elements.
It seems natural that these metal beings crafted by the best surviving tech priests to function for years in the most extreme environments would be comparable to the biologically engineered space marines and so have Strength and toughness 4, possibly with a small points increase.
There are going to be minor advantages on to wound rolls in combat and maybe one less wound when attacked by the average ranged weapon but i thing the big difference is only being insta killed by strength 8 instead of the current strength 6, not getting the FNP in the process.

A group of friends i play with is going to try it out in a few games but i was just wondering what everyone thought?

Grey Knights - 3500pts
SKitarii - 4000pts
Ad mech - 2000pts
Imperial Knights - 1000pts
Black Templars - 3200pts
Genestealer cults - 1750

So you want them to be stronger than an Ork boy?

on the forum. Obviously

They are tougher than humans, just not as tough as marines or orks.

The stat system isn't very precise; if it were out of 100, a guardsmen would be like T 30 and a Skitarii would be T 38 or something.

What I have
~4100
~1660

Peace through power!

A longbeard when it comes to Necrons and WHFB. Grumble Grumble

Yeah, agree with CthululsSpy. The current system doesn't allow enough discrepancy in the stats and so many units fall into categories alongside units that shouldn't match.
One move up or down the scale with a stat can make a silly difference

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Well the 6+++ kinda helps represent that, though not by much.
