I definitely want to field veterans in my army, but I can't figure out if you can include veterans in a platoon as a replacement for the infantry squads.

No; Infantry Squads are what is stated as being the requirement for an Infantry Platoon, and Infantry Squads have their own unique dataslate. Infantry Squads do not allow you to use any other squads of models that are also Infantry to fulfill this requirement.

I would instead recommend just taking Veteran Sqads, since each of those fills a Troop requirement, and simply taking more Company Command Squads instead to issue more orders with.

The Platoon Entry tells you exactly which and how many entries you can take within it.

But you could also just take Veterans units as troops choices.

I've often thought of running a a veteran gunline with a ccs to give orders, that's a lot of bs4 dakka, you can't blob them though

Alternatively, you could use the Storm Troopers as your Veterans. In the AM they can be taken as Platoons.

Of course, you could just fandex the Veteran Platoon and see if your group will let it fly. Just avoid the Conscripts and limit the Teams. Maybe not include the Combined Squad rule with the Infantry Squads.

Fly it up the Proposed Rules flagpole and see who salutes.

Thanks all. I just hoped that since veterans were basically the same as infantry squads, just improved slightly, that the codex could've meant any basic IG infantry
