Quite excited by Imperial Veterans, so I thought I'd try and throw a list together with some Defenders in preperation. Having never used Defenders, I'm not sure how it'll do, but it looks fun.

Anyway.

[TIE Defender] Glaive Squadron Pilot w/ Crack Shot, Tractor Beam, TIE/D title, MKII engines (37)

[TIE Defender] Countess Ryad w/ PTL, TIE/x7 title, MKII engines (36)

[TIE/fo Fighter] Omega Leader w/ Juke, Comms Relay (26)

OL is always fun, the Countess looks awesome, and the Glaive should be able to tear through something with the combination of the title, Crack Shot and the Tractor Beam. I kind of want EU on Ryad, but I don't have the points and I think the MKII engines make her a little less predictable for stress clearing, though the option of four different speed green K-turns is already fairly unpredictable I suppose. I think the biggest issue I'd have is large ships, if anything. My meta is at least weird enough that you can go a few weeks without seeing them, so maybe it won't be that bad.

I really wanted to try out TIE/D Tractor beam defenders with ruthlessness. I think that would be something crazy.

Personally, I'm debating between running 1 of 3 lists now that I've seen what's dropped:

3 Onyx squad pilots with TIE/D, tractor beams

3 Onyx squad pilots with TIE/x7, Stealth Device

Or 2 glaive squad pilots with adaptability, MK.II Engines and Countess Ryad with veteran instincts and MK.II engines

3 ps7 super defenders are amazing. Countess Ryad and her Glaives are exactly what I hoped for.

I'll be honest, I'm not a superfan of Glaive Pilots. I'd rather grab Vessery. You have the points, and the Target Locks to suppport his Pilot Ability. You are losing nothing by doing so.

Q: What do you call a Dinosaur Handpuppet?

A: A Maniraptor

Except for points and symmetry, I would agree with you. My usual vessery build has opportunist with an HLC, however. But I've been seriously considering TIE/D with a tractor beam on him as well. The double target locks are nasty. But again 35 base instead of 34 base means a lot when deciding what to do, and I think the k-turns are going to be a blast to play around with.

I'll have to agree with Edsnark, as well. Ptl with TIE Mk.II on Countess Ryad leaves a whole bunch of green on the dial, and would be worth it.

Honestly you don't need more than one tractor beam, taking ion cannons alongside leaves them predictable and vulnerable.

I was thinking of going n a different direction with this:

Countess Ryad + x7 + PTL + Stealth Device

Delta Squad + x7 + Stealth Device

Delta Squad + x7 + Stealth Device

Keep pushing out those spd 3-4-5 maneuvers and you get an evade and 4 defense dice a turn in addition to your focus or another evade. Not to mention that the countess could use barrel rolls and avoid shots even more.

Or

Countess Ryad + x7 + PTL + Stealth Device

Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay

Fel + Royal Guard + PTL + Autothrusters + Stealth Device

Basically two lists that are extremely hard to hit.

That last one should be fun, at the very least.
