Dakka,

I'm looking to add some air support to my 1850 Ravenwing Strike Force list and can't make a final decision on whether to add the storm wing formation or the raptor wing formation. I already have the two storm talons, as they are needed for either choice, but can't make the final decision.

With my RWSF, I am also running the Ravenwing Support Squadron. In saying that, raptor wing will add another speeder to help with target saturation and fits the aesthetics of the army. Storm Wing, however, brings the boss storm raven gunship to the table, but at a steeper points increase so it would potentially start to eat into the RWSF.

So, I ask you, Dakka, raptor wing or storm wing formation?

Playing Ravenwing means you have no use for the transport capacity of the Storm Raven.

So, take the Raptor Wing.

Definitely Raptor Wing. Stormraven doesn't really offer much for Ravenwing. Raptor Wing is cheaper and more effective.

BS5 Stormraven is pretty boss though. I'm a huge fan of the stormwing, and I never run my stormraven as a transport.

Raptor Wing is a guarantee.

If I really want a Stormraven, I just take it as a Heavy support.

Best part about raptor wing is it comes in automatically on turn 2. Also - the speeder "tax" isn't that bad. Land speeders are pretty points efficient and mobile to boot.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Thanks for all the replies. Ended up going with raptor wing, even though I absolutely love the storm raven model. The speeder fits the theme of the army, is points efficient and the guaranteed arrival on turn 2 was too good to pass up.
