Newbie here, thinking of trying to get some friends to start up AoS...is it worth it now with the upcoming changes? I'd like to play the Empire or Free Peoples.

How well do the knightly order heads fit on the Freeguild Generals and other units for that matter? Not a fan of most of the heads.

Thanks!

Crusader, Honor Guard of the Cardinal's Crimson.

What is it you're expecting from the upcoming changes?

It'll be interesting to see how the different start collecting boxes rank against one another points wise, but I recommend you and your friends each get a different box and start playing :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

The way I see it, is basically if you don't like it now, you will not like it later. I mean after all you can do what ever you want, and since you guys can't be bothered to do what ever you want, no amount of hand holding will let you like the game in a few months if you don't like it now.

I mean you guys are friends after all, so it's not like you are playing with strangers. So since you can't come up with a way to play now, no amount of rules will make the experience anymore better. After all, you guys know what your fun is. Why do you need someone else to tell you how to do it?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

This is kind of a catch - 22.

People want a more visibly active player base before they play.

But will not play until it becomes so.

And because they will not play there is not a visibly active player base.

Who cares if it has a giant player base? If you like it play it. If you don't like it play something else.

That'll depend, but I recommend trying the game out now. While balance will likely be better after the new point system comes out, the base mechanics of the game will likely remain the same. If you don't like the basic aspects of the game, it won't ever be worth it to you.

I personally enjoy the game but the lack of point system turned a lot of people off in my area after the initial flurry. I'm also the kind of person that likes to list build when I'm bored, coming up with fun army combinations, and not having a point system to reign it in hurts that.

Overall in my area the reaction has been very positive to the news, and I hope we see an active AoS community similar to what we had for WHFB.

Actually there is reason why upcoming change could affect him. Opponents. If there's no player base(1 opponent gets boring easily) now but there grows interest with new rules that would def change things.

So can I have Empire, High Elves, and Wood Elves all in the same army?

Yes. They are all under the Order faction.

I say you can have any army you want, no matter faction. I am sure a lot of people will not agree with me, but if you want your Stormcasts following Chaos, I say I am all for it. Let us use our imaginations and have a great time. Hell have some Chaos following Sigmar.

I say the books are a great start to get an idea of what is, and then we use our imaginations and go for broke. Make your own fluff, have fun converting and have fun playing.

Yes, having a multi-grand alliance army is fun. My army is a mix of humans, Duardin, Aelves and I have a human necromancer who summons up death units during battle :-)

While it's not yet clear how the tournament set of the three versions of the rules will look, there is certainly opportunity to run those Order factions together in a grand alliance.

Ill second this

AoS is in a wild west kinda state where almost anything goes so its a blast to find what you like and roll with it, when points come it will only tie it down a little as GW still says they will have the free range style aswell. If you are worried about people, dont ask the internet, we all live in different places with different player bases. Go to your local shops and ask around, see how many people are in your area. If not many and you and your friend like the game start going into those shops once a week and play against your pal there so others will see, they might even take an interest and join in too thus building your player base. Basically, try the game yourselves, know that an army can have any models and you can add your own house rules, then if you like it get others to join in instead of waiting to "see what happens".

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato
