Hey Ho,
Since I have access to frikken lasers nowadays my hobby cup hath been overflowing with ideas, this here is the first that i'm going to act on, and would appreciate some insight/input from those who have gone before.
Background:
1. I'm an absolute nut for flyers, but detest carrying the bases about, as they come unglued SO often.
2. It would be nice to have an exact point of reference for the 90 degree turns, since when they're in the middle of the table the perspective is a little skewed
3. painted/model flying bases is a waste of time for me, as a. my scratchbuilding isn't up to much b. anything substantial is going to be damaged in transport and c. it interferes with the aesthetics of the table if you have desert effect base on a snow table for example.
All of these could be solved with the introduction of a truly clear plastic flying base, with a *slotting* flying stand.
Therefore!
I plan to design and laser cut out a
gw dimension solid oval with an etched 'compass' in the middle, and a cut slot for the flying base either in the front or the back according to taste. I intend to use either 3 or 5mm clear acrylic for this purpose. If it works i'll be posting the design up here for any interested parties
