Centurions and Terminators seem to be competing for the same role in space marine armies each with their pros and cons. Of the two which do you prefer to use or find hardest to face? What do you think the pros and cons of each are?

So far I have found that Centurions seem to out perform terminators on most accounts due to their devastating strength and initiative allowing them to destroy anything they touch. With their superior toughness and 2 wounds each I find them also more than able to withstand small arms fire, but they are weak to ap2 so they have to stick to cover where they can. I do find them not ar resistent to other heavy hitters due to their lack of an invuln however, but with their attack volume and init 4 they can just plain overwhelm most nasty things before they get to swing.

Your thoughts?

If it isn't a Wraithknight, Assault Centurions are definitely the one I'd choose. I use them and Tyberos (plus a TSE Captain with a Bike riding nearby) with a Spartan.
1. They can contribute if they don't want to charge. Hurricane Bolters and Melta Guns mean they can hit any target at range.
2. If you buy the Omniscope, you can shoot at a unit with two of the other guys and charge that second target. It is also a nice ability for any Chapter Master (because Bombardment).
3. You're having a tanking character anyway. That means he can tank shots that would be less pleasant for the Centurions.
4. Also they ID T5.

You know #1 is not something I thought of doing. I always kept the flamers and assault launchers. Giving them meltas and hurricane bolters does make them a very versatile unit if potentially less effective in combat, but it does give them another layer of utility over the terminators. What I would like to try is melta guns with the two dudes taking hurricane bolters and the sergeant keeping the launcher so at least he can challenge at full initiative and get the full value out of it his defensive/offensive grenades in the event they are charged.

The Spartan can take Frag Assault Launchers. No need for the ones on the Centurions.
