Subject: Is an all Ogre army playable?

Hello all,
The other day I finished work early and for some reason went to the GW store (have not been in one for over 5 years). I stopped playing after 40k 5th ed. My gaming group just stopped after 6th came out and i lost all desire to play. I never stopped painting just gaming. I tried warmahordes and infinity but its not really my thing. I have painted a lot of wild west exodus but no one plays here. Anyway back to my story.
The guy running the shop was a really nice guy and very informative. I was just there for a look around as I have no intention of playing 40k again, at least in its current state.
I have always liked the look of the ogres and after a chat with the store man, I picked up a box to paint (i am mainly a painter these days). I am really enjoying working on them and am now considering making an army out of them. I am even thinking I might participate in some events at the store or at least giving it a try.
I am just after some feedback and appreciate any answers you can provide to these questions.
Are Ogers a fun army to play against?
Are they able to win games or do they need to team up with other forces? (I do like the gnoblar/goblin people also)
I did not see an AOS rule book in the shop, just 3 main faction books. Are the rules in there?
I am also liking that I dont have to paint scores of models to have a playable force. At any rate I am enjoying this project so far and it would be nice to play agame or two when finished.

Rules are free. Download the free app. This has the game rules and all the unit rules.
There are no 'armies' as such. But most people play within one of the four Grand Alliances. Which allows for quite a bit of variation between peoples' forces.
Orges and their sort are super tough. They fall under the Destruction Grand Alliance.

The easy way to say it is, that Ogre Kingdoms aren't just playable, they're awesome. They hit hard, and can take some truly ridiculous damage. In comparison to other factions, Ogres are generally an army of Hammers, where other factions has elite units to do that.
Some players don't like fighting Ogres, because some armies can't deal with the raw power of Ogres.

Ogors are probably the easiest faction to jump into. Don't need to buy much, everything hits hard and is pretty resilient. They're kind of AoS before AoS if you follow - smaller number of models, bigger individual models.

I started an OK army for fantasy just before it blew up but I have enjoyed playing them in AOS. As mentioned above, they are tough and hit hard. Also, really fun to paint. I'm glad they didn't get last chanced! Lots of converting potential too with all the bits they come with between the various kits.

Ogres are great in AOS, where Ironguts are gods, generally with a Tyrant to bully them and Stonehorn(s) to rampage alongside. Ogres are also a great reason to use a balancing system that doesn't rely on wounds alone, and certainly not on model count! - Salvage

Thanks Boss and Marshal you only strengthen resolve to this project. Sounds like it is a fun army of big guys and not having to paint scores of them which becomes painful after awhile.
I really want to collect all the maneaters as well converting some of my own from different cultures across the ages.

I run an Ogre force and they super fun...if you can get them into combat fast watch out ! lol
I need to give these guys a break because a group of my friends hates playing them lol.
But ya def load up on Ironguts, Mournfang Cavalry, Butcher, and a stonehorn or thundertusk (or both if you can to have a choice between the two).
Depending on how the point system works really, if you play with wounds I would take a Stonehorn or Thundertusk any day over a unit of two mournfang. We will see how everything looks when the point system comes out.
