Hello 30k dakkanites,

I bought all my mechanicum units as per the rule of cool, and now I need to figure out how to make decent lists with them.
I haven't actually played a 30k game yet so I'm not really sure what to expect but here's what I got:

27 thallax, 3 have melta and 3 have plasma
4 castellax with melta
3 thanatar with plasma mortars
1 Magos with mech array (converted from tech priest)

I also have a knight that I can swap the weapon load out of

I'm hoping I can melta the tanks and mortar the infantry?

I was looking at something like this for 1000 points:

Magos with mech array: 100
4 Thallax with melta: 185
4 Thallax with melta: 185
Thanatar with paragon: 275
Thanatar: 250

Then at 1500 throw in 4 castellax
Then at 2000 throw in a melta knight and beef up the thallax units.

Rule of cool is all well and good, but no way in hell I would play against two Thantar in a thousand point game. Not a fan of that low a point total in Heresy games though.

I've got to say that is a pleasing amount of thallax though!

I've got an idea if the double thanatar is too much for your opponent - replace the non-paragon of metal one with a unit of thallax with the icarian upgrade.
It would fill the same slot (Ordo Reductor Matrix of ruin yeah?) give you some leftover points and provides an anti-air threat - i wonder how many 1000 point lists are going to use a flyer though.
