I was planning to start a ork army, can someone give me a basic list of what I would need, with prices and the best places to buy them if possible, like ebay, games workshop, or other online stores.

Not exactly where you should be posting this, probably general discussion would be better. But a basic force your going to want

1x Warboss
20-40 Boyz depending on how you want to roll
1-3 trukkz
3-9 Bikes
and some tankbustas or meganobz depending again on the feel for your army.

As far as where to get them? I would recommend Dakka's trade forum, you will not get better prices then that. If you can't find what your looking for there, then I would say go to EBAY. Only use GW as a last resort because they are a special kind of stupid when it comes to pricing minis.

What kind of ork army do you want to play? Horde, speed, or dakka?

If it's horde go lots of big boyz squads, lootas, and mek guns.

If it's speed grab lots of bikers, trukks and a couple deffkoptas. MANz in trukks are nice.

If it's dakka, grab lots of lootas, mek gunz, maybe some big meks with a shokk attack gun or a stompa.

No matter which way you go, tankbustas are a must have. Grots are really good too for holding objectives. The good mek gunz are lobbas or KMKs. Lootas can move and shoot if you put a character with mega armour with them. Always give your Warboss Da Lucky Stikk.

Not an ork player, but from what I can tell lots of bikes is a good thing, so a couple boxes of those, maybe a unit of nobz as a bodyguard for a warboss in a battlewagon? Of course add some boyz, but I shouldn't have to say that

You could probably go to any retailers that sell gw stuff, they usually offer 10 percent off.
