Just as the topic says, with the new Knight Box set, what would be the best way to equip a Renegade Knight for game of 40k? Are the new rules the better ones, or are the old Forgeworld ones with the dedications a better use of points??

Two avenger cannons. 24 shots is really good and it is still s10 ap2 in combat which is equivalent to S in most cases. Problem is there is only 1 per box!

And in comparison to the FW one, it really depends on your army. If you are playing Daemons, the daemon FW one is probably better because your army is set up to buff it. If you are playing CSM, or anyone that wants to al;ly in a knight (Like orks), the new one is probably better as it has more firepower.

Aftermath can be calculated.

Personally, I'm a fan of Dual Battle Cannons.
1. the ranged aspect.
2. number of guns
3. You are still Str10AP2 in combat and can stomp

OTOH, there are any number of work arounds if you want a second avenger. Tau HBC, Forgefiend thresher cannons, Guard Punishers, etc. (and if yours really is a Renegade, there is a justification not to get another avenger (model))

I think a combo would be nice. 1 Gatling, 1 Battle cannon. It saves you from having to get a second Gatling and gives some versatility.

However if you want a cheaper Knight, I'd magnetized the arms for 1 CC weapon & 1 shooting of your choice.

I personally don't think i'm a fan of Crusader Knights, even with the double gun Renegade Knights get. It's a 60 point increase with no increase in durability (and IKs aren't that hard to kill to begin with) So it makes IKs more of a glass cannon.

Double gatling cannons do tons of damage. 3 of them are crazy good.

This article might answer a lot of your questions.

Does anybody know if these:

or these
http://dreamforge-games.com/products/1-100-15mm-left-handed-vulkan-cannon
would have the appropriate size to fit on a knight?

@labmouse
I read your article, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I thought so that the Chaos Knight would last longer, as a Nurgle player having it will not die gives him an even higher chance of survival. And if he counts as Daemon of Nurgle in ITC, does he even get shrouded? o.O

People have suggested to me using the Forgefiend Guns that aren't used when constructing a Mauler.
I intend to try it

Since the kit comes with 2 Battle cannons and 2 of the big Meltas (don't remember the names), you could easily just add the Forgefiend cannon barrels onto them and BAM!, 2 Gatlings

Yes, he gets shrouded in ITC. Pretty sweet, eh?

I've spent the past day building two knights, and I'm ready to move onto the weapons. I'll try this tomorrow and let you know how it looks.

I'm about to buy a Knight Warden kit myself, and even though I run a loyalist army, that double Avenger Gatling Cannon just seems too good. Maybe I can fluff the Knight's story up to be more of a mercenary rather than an agent of Chaos.
