Has anyone tried to play 40k as a bolt action hybrid? A friend introduced me to bolt action and I got really intruiged by the ruleset. It seemed to far better represent a warzone then 40k does. Hence I was wondering if anyone has simply swapped over 40k models stats into bolt action and tried it out? I imagine it being broken as hell but at least providing an intresting game.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

I'm working on a hybrid rule set for 40K & Bolt action, but there's a lot of rules in the codexes that need tweaking or the game is just as broken as straight 40K.

I don't own a copy of the Beyond the Gates of Antares rulebooks, but from what I've heard, that system - which is by the same folks - may be a better system to use with 40K armies.

It never ends well

AFAIK.
Beyond The Gates Of Antares , is basically the large skirmish game Rick Priestly wanted to write for 40k. (But was never allowed to write at GW plc.)

I think it would be much easier to convert 40k units to BtGoA , than to convert 40k units over to B.A.
