Just saw someone say on a pic of their mini, "trophies and boss pole will be added later when he deserves them."

So this got me thinking, does anyone else do this? This sounds cool. Adding trophies to your minis after battles when they do great acts. This would definitely add character to the mini. So does anyone else do this? If I wanted to do this, how should I start my minis then so I can add on to them later? Problem for me is I don't know much of the fluff, so I wouldn't know what would be added later or what not to add now so it can be added later.

I'd say it would be a pain in the behind if the miniature is already painted. Gluing stuff onto a painted and/ or varnished surface will ruin it to some extent. If you don't plan on painting the models anytime soon - sure go ahead, it would be cool. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Adding things to the base would be more easy IMO.

Played a small warbands campaign a few years ago where I did that sort of thing. Killed some chaos warriors in distinctive armor so 'nailed' a large shoulder plate in the same color to my Ogre chief. Then kicked some Dwarves out of a brewery in an epic little game, so found some kegs and put them on a couple of the band, hanging from their belts. Remains of goblin leg (snack) hanging from the belt after beating the gobbos etc.

Ogres are good for that sort of thing.

As for the other poster, horses for courses. My mins were painted, and I don't think they were ruined. I'm not a golden demon entrant type painter, and at arms length gaming minis shouldn't be ruined. Display pieces another matter maybe.

Instead of gluing on pieces, it maybe easier to add decals to the models instead. Maybe make something up that signifies rank or something.

'Murica! (again)

I do, started from narrative campaigns as a kid. Reserved only for the super-epic or hilarious events in game but usually the opponent (me or opponent) gives a piece to commemorate the moment. It's not expected though, yet there's always bits laying around to add to a base or banner pole. Consider even, if you're running out of space on the model, put a diminutive lil' familiar or servant to bear your trophies. It always makes for a fun story and for competitive players can boost your painting score if reflected in the army's theme & fluff.

OH I like that idea. Thanks for advice there, will strongly consider this next time something epic happens.
