Potential dumb question, but are Signature Systems relics? Page references and/or faq links are appreciated.

Right here, at the moment

from my (albeit limited) understanding of the Tau dex in comparison to other 7th ed codices, I'd say that they were equivalent enough to follow the rules of relics

No they are not. At least they are not referred to as relics. So I would say no.

Also the FAQ say that you're limited to 1 unless otherwise stated.

Pretty sure the tau book says you can take any number of signature systems.

I hope they FAQ and Errata the Tau book to allow ColdStar Commanders to take signature systems. Would love to see that guy on the board in with T5 AP2 armor zipping around.

The Tau codex has slightly different rules for their signature system than the other codexes have for relics, specifically Tau can take more than one sig system per model as long as there is no more than one of each sig system per army. As such, the recent relic ruling has no effect on Tau sig systems.
