GW's new Golden Demon website is online. Still work in progress it seems but it's worth a look already

Does anyone see anything other than the 2013 stuff there? What's the deal with that?

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Well, they sort of cancelled the Golden Demons in the traditional sense.

They could show off stuff from their new format, though.

Shame really. They need to bring it back.

Golden Demon: Classic

We are proud to announce the climax to the 2015/2016 Golden Demon Calendar; the “Classic” event, which is being held at Warhammer Fest this year. With all the categories regular Golden Demon entrants will recognise, this will be the crowning glory on a year of fantastic painting competitions. We will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Golden Demons statuettes to the winners of each category, as well as well as the Forge World Best in Show prize and the famous Slayer Sword for overall Best in Show, all decided by our panel of expert judges, so here’s your chance to earn glory.

Wow, Rountree is really making all the right calls for GW lately! It was crazy for them to end Golden Demons and basically cede painting competition turf almost completely over to CMON / Crystal Brush. Really awesome to see them bring it back

That's great news, Drak. Here's hoping this is the way of the future. The one category with theme announced when the deadline is nearly here doesn't allow most of the world's top painters to attend. And after seeing the Crystal Brush entries over the past few years...

Of course, no way I'm making it to Nottingham for a one day con.

In recent years, GW has been making it out to Gencon. I figure they're probably attending some other conventions as well, which is very much up for them. I honestly think they could do a bit better- they send a bunch of redshirts from various GW stores- while other game companies send game designers, miniatures sculptors, in house painters, writers, artists etc.

If GW doesn't see running multiple Games Days as efficient or profitable like they used to, they should probably start running Golden Demon events at these conventions.

Gencon and Adepticon might be tough sells- both already have some pretty nice competitions with top tier painters, but I think the fact that these painters are already attending the con means that many of them would happily compete for a Slayer Sword as well.

Meh. Looks flashy but there's no zoom feature (some of the unit entry pics might as well not be there for what you can see), no additional pics of from different angles (except for the slayer sword winner it seems) or a 360 rotation (something which the duel entries would benefit majorly from). Demonwinner.free.fr looks far more up to scratch than this and they're using whatever photos GW published.

These are the offcial pics. GW should have 100% control over how they are presented, yet we're stuck squinting at some of them. If I didn't have thumbnail zoom installed on my browser you can hardly make out anything in some of them.
