A Skull at the Throne of Khorne
|
I was reading about the golden throne and the last paragraph on the page did not make any sense to me.
With the discovery of the Golden Throne's deteriorating state, a dozen contingency expeditions have been launched by the Cult Mechanicus, including a Xanthite war procession sent through the Exhubris Portal. The Xanthite fought through Harlequin Troupes and Daemon hordes alike before reaching their intended destination. In the grave-cold oubliettes beneath Commorragh, a dark bargain is struck.
does anyone know anything about this? i found found it very intruiging

That's literally all there is on it. It's the most recent event and it demonstrates the insane lengths the Mechanicus is willing to go to ensure that the golden throne doesn't fail. Even if that means using xenos tech.

That is all the information there is about that expedition. It shows the Mechanicus are doing everything they can to fix the problem.

Vect to use a "back door" to take control of the Golden Throne? I like that idea!

What ? There isn't anything about Vect "hacking" the Golden Throne.
Or do you mean he will hack it to fix it, thanks to the back door ?
I think what they are looking for is the bio regenerative tech of Dark Eldars.
They are well known for this, and IIRC they can grow all new body for defunt warriors and then bring the soul back in it.
Can be interesting to "make" a new God-Emperor.

It's very likely they went to see the Haemonculi about regeneration tech. Dark Eldar can make clones, vat babies and entirely regrow people from finger tips, it makes sense for the mechanicus to go to them for inspiration.

there's another less exciting thought. the golden throne was originally part of a Human webway project. so it's possiable that the eldar could simply have a widget that's needed for the thing

If something this monumental is going on in his city, I'm pretty sure Vect is going to want to exploit it. And if not him, Malys. Unlikely, the Eldar Webway is a wraithbone construct, competely different tech to what the Emperor was using.

Not quite.. it was reverse engineered from Eldar ruins (who probably only borrowed it from the old ones). So its plausible the eldar were aware of the technology. They certainly know how to open and close webway gates (which is essentially what the golden throne does).
Interestingly, in the new HH book 'Path of Heaven' the throne is referred to as a 'Soul Engine'. And it is stated that humans were never meant to use such things.
