I think your on the right tracks and you warband will work okay, but I would suggest the following; Lose the Halberd on the Vampire and get a sword (use with free knife for +1A). Vamps already have skill and strength advantages when starting out so getting a parry is more important. Necromancer has a good chance of getting a poor spell so give him a bow so he can stay out of trouble but still be useful. Dregs should have a Bow or Club or both. They are really poor characters but you need them. Their best use is following a wall of zombies with the Necromancer. Get the zombies to tarpit and pull down fighters then the Dregs charge in to bash anyone on the floor for the XP gain. This makes for a slow element to your warband but Dregs will be vulnerable on their own due to lack of skill. Wolves good, keep with Vampire for a fast moving strike force. A slavering Charge from Dire Wolves is your equivalent of ranged fire. They're really good but best used to pick off individuals as they are less good after the charge and can be bogged down and more easily killed. Ghouls are fine and worth it for the ability to generate heroes that you don't otherwise have. T4 and 2A is handy too. Zombies are way under estimated. They are bloody hard to take OoA and in a group are great at pulling down fighters for your heroes to take OoA and take XP. I like to max out on these possibly even loing out on Ghouls to make sure my Necromancer/Dregs are well wrapped in them. One good trick I have found is combining an otherwise meh Ogre Mercenary with a Undead warband as a bodyguard for the vampire. Not only are they one of the few hired swords you can take but another M6, fear causing, high strength Character (S6 with 2H weapon) that's tough as old boots compliments a vampire brilliantly. Everyone will think you've taken a second rate warband with a mediocre hireling and then they will rip the heart out of your opponent before they are ready for you. It make me laugh thinking about it; just keep them out of sight of ranged weapons. It synergises with Dire Wolves and the Vampire extremely well and your opponent can find their warband being assaulted before they can get their bows/hangunners in sniping positions thus negating your big ranged combat weakness.
