You guys are my heros. Thanks for keeping the game I love alive at least in your hearts and minds. Lately I have been seeing some younger kids coming in painting up isengard and other armies. Hope still exists

I anticipate the gaming coming back in a big way over the next few years, now that GW are back to supporting it (Sourcebooks are being reprinted right now, the first few were already on sale at Warhammerfest today, a selection of OOP models are getting picked up by Force World!). If you haven't seen the new Iron Hills Dwarves they previewed today, click this spoiler and do your utmost not to cry tears of joy, because they're fething stunning: Worth the wait if those end up in plastic! There never was much hope. Only a fool's hope... but my god does it look like it's being rewarded!

I'm sooooo cringing, because I fully expect the $32 for 4 Finecast price for those IronHills... and I know I will want at least 12. Likewise, i've got to have that Dain, and can easily imagine populating a table with Laketown Buildings.
I'll go out on a limb and say Laketown building will be a relatively low priced, nicely modular, plastic kit. In some pics the building has a balcony which in another pic is clearly repurposed as a building without balcony, but fenced in.

You are most likely right on all of this. I am hoping that the plastic building is better than most of GW's plastic terrain, I have witchfate tor and the 4 fulcrums and they are absolutely awful to put together, they didnt fit, the pieces had huge gaps, all around terrible models. I hope for better here from forgeworld.

There have been mentions at £4 per infantry model, sold in sets of twelve. That puts them cheaper than Finecast, and of better quality.

On the other hand, that's £48 for a set... I'm definitely out at that price. I'd pay £30 for a set, no more, doesn't matter how good the models are.

I guess I've gotten used to the sticker price as I've done a full Gundabad army (24 Finecast armored Gundabad infantry + all heroes) and I've just finished my Lake Town force (36 infantry + a bunch of heroes and captains) and Mirkwood army (with a bunch of Mirkwood Cavalry and Mirkwood armored infantry). So $25/3 models is the Finecast price point - any cheaper for Forge World and I'll be rather happy.

Having spent the last two years buying up OOP metal figures for LOTR, I guess I've become jaded. After spending $50 for a blister of two figures, paying $70 for a dozen figures does not sound so bad.

I'm definitely guilty of dropping $45 on a Gandalf the Grey mounted.

I really hope this one is up for a rerelease, it's hugely expensive to get hold of now and one of the ones I really regret not picking up back in the day. I still have hard limits on what I will spend on a model, but I'd happily pay £15 or so for the mounted Gandalf The Grey.

There is a gigantic, horse-shaped, gap in my Middle-Earth collection as well, as I am missing mounted versions of essentially anyone who can take the option. The price is just so oppressive, considering the insane volume of content across all armies I was able to build, relatively cheaply, otherwise.
Plus... aren't some mounted models just outright non-existent? As far as I know, Thorin's company can all take ponies.... and no models ever existed. :-p

Yeah, there are quite a few models/options from both LotR and The Hobbit that were never realised in miniature form, or if they were, were never released. Thorin's company on ponies, monted versions of Wormtongue, Beregond (pretty sure he can be mounted, though I can't recall 100%), all sorts... There's probably a list somewhere.

A couple other's off hand, there is a listing in the Harad and Umbar list for a Mahud Warrior Hero (Tribemaster?) and a second type of Umbar Warrior (Umbar Raider) that were AFAIK never made.

It feels like the Fallen Kingdoms book is downright criminally difficult to build from right now (outside of Isengard).
More than any other source, this one has so many units, even fundamental, needed-in-bulk units, out of print, or just impossible to find.
I'd love to do Easterlings or Harad... but in resin prices.... not so sure I could start a whole new faction. :-p

AFAIK, all the Easterling warriors and heroes are still in production. I know a lot of them are finecast (bleg!) now but you can still order a complete collection direct from GW.
Other than the plastic warriors, I do think all the Haradrim stuff is OOP, but its still fairly available through third party sales and auction sites. You'll probably pay a premium for a lot of it, though (just like all the OOP metal GW figures these days).

Most of the Haradrim stuff is still there on the GW site.
Haradrim Raiders, Haradrim Commanders, Muhad Warriors, Muhad Raider, Watchers of Karna, Half Trolls, Abrakhan Guard, Golden King and the Mumak and Mumak Mahud are all still available. All Umbar stuff is OOP though, except for the plastic corsairs.

Yes, yes you are.
there are lots of players in the mid 20's who bought tons of it when the game first started and haven't touched it since. I am pretty much just picking apart their collections for little to nothing since to them they have no real value

Thankfully there are some 3rd parties that make some of the missing models. I have Unreleased Miniatures Corsair Reavers, Beregond mtd, Citadel Guard mtd, and they just released a mtd Gil-Galad, mtd Grima, mtd Narzug, mtd Forlong, and mtd Thorin.

I love how their Dwarf Holds Spearmen look conspicuously identical to the upcoming Iron-Hills Dwarves. :-)

D'oh!!! You are right, of course. I swear I typed "Harad" into the search engine on the GWUS website yesterday and the only thing that showed up was the plastic Warriors.
Eh, I wasn't counting in Mahud or Umbar stuff as Harad figures. I know they are in the same list but I always considered them separate sub-groups. It does look like the Serpent Guard and Serpent Riders are OOP, as well as the Hasharin (assassin) and Haradrim Chieftain are all OOP. If you do count the Mahud and Umbar they are missing the Mahud King and Warriors w/ Blowpipes and the Corsair Fleetmaster, Captain and Bosun (plus the Arbelestors you mentioned). And then there are the Mahud Tribemaster and Corsair Raiders which AFAIK never had miniatures released for them in the first place.
So, there are enough figures to put together a "pure" Harad force, although it would be missing at least a few options. The Corsairs are SOL for a pure list as they are missing two of their three Warrior choices as well as all their Heroes (unless you count the Knight of Umbar Ringwraith).
