Hi Dakka,

As I finished the touches on my Skitarii themed Drop Pods... The early FAQ dropped.
So now I'm looking to drop allied Marines and maybe just buff up my Skitarii and throw in some ad mech.

I'm a magnetizer, I go crazy with them, however after doing one Dune walker to have every option, it was a bit crazy, so I thought I'd ask. If you were going to bring these beasts, how would you do it? In general. I love the model so hope to find it a home in my army.

I started fleshing out some Kataphron Battle Servitors and met my match for magnets, the parts are just too mixed together to successfully magnetize the kit. (Unless I drop a lot of the details). So I'm thinking I'll just make each group with interchangeable weapons only. (Make a breacher squad with all options then just buy another set to make a destroyer group).
Which squad would you recommend trying out first? Has anyone found one more useful or exciting to use over the other? Or has anyone found a great way to magnetize the box to be both?

Sargent! Bring me my brown pants!

I run destroyers 99% of the time.

The grav gun they have is simply the best in the game. Coupled with the re roll hits canticle and its insane. I mostly pick Grav for MEQs, Monstrous Creatures, and lightly armored lists.

THAT being said please dont underestimate the plasma cannons. 6 small blasts from a min squad is also pretty nasty at dealing with MCs, MEQs and light transports.

As far as breachers go they just WRECK vehicles. You can almost perfectly deep strike them with torsion cannons and just about blow up any armored target. However I think the haywire guns are better. Haywire at that range is pretty nasty and with their low BS having the two shots compared to the 1 for the torsion cannons seems more useful.

If you know what you are playing you can swap between them but they are easily the better of the two troop options.

Especially if you're allying AdMech with Skitarii, I'd go with Destroyers first. Skitarii have great methods of clearing out vehicles and light infantry with the Haywire guns and the good small-arms fire from the basic troops, but I've found that heavy infantry and MCs are tough to deal with from range (Ruststalkers or Infiltrators can do it in melee, but they need to get there and are very fragile). The Grav Cannons on the Destroyers are exactly what's needed to fill that gap in the Skitarii armory. Massed plasma cannon fire is good, but then you're really specializing into killing infantry, especially heavy infantry, over being able to deal with heavy infantry, MCs, and even vehicles at the same time.

As for Dunewalkers, I've never run them, but it seems like the Icarus or the Neutron Laser. The Icarus fills your anti-air role extremely nicely, which is important since nothing else in a Skitarii/AdMech army can do it. Even if your opponent doesn't bring aircraft, it still works against Skimmers. The Neutron Laser is great if you want something like a Tau Railgun, but single high-Strength shots don't really feel like what Skitarii want to me.
