The plan: 3 mini black knight deathstars roll up the board, two with tanking chapter masters and one with the techmarine tanking. Any AP2 is looked out to 3+ re-rollable black knights jinking. The stars get in combat and get killing. They are supported by whirlwinds to help against high model counts and skyhammer to help with monstrous creatures etc.

I believe you can have two chapter masters - might be a little unfluffy, but I'm sure the rules could represent really tooled-up captains...

The fist of medusa has +1 FNP within 12 inches of warlord, two warlord traits and vehicles within 12 inch gain power of the machine spirit (potentially allowing 12 inch movement with whilwinds and still firing, but this is minor)

Ah I didn't realise that - yeah auspex seems a reasonable buy.

I wasn't entirely sure whether Clan Raukaan worked with the new formations or not. And I'm not 100% sure who's best to be the warlord. Thought it mightbe best to give the FNP bubble to the one who has less intrinsic FNP himself so his stays high

You're trying to do too much with too little. Your stars are way too expensive for how easy they are to kill and how little damage they'll actually do. (Keep in mind that even with great positioning one character will not keep a whole squad safe without invis, not having EW means they'll be as good as 1 wound and 2+ reroll cover is only good if they can't ignore it, which most armies can. Even if they can't you're not super fantastic in melee and your shooting will be borked from jinking.) You have no psychic, which is absolutely mandatory, even for mini-stars(One librarian does NOT count)

On the other side you're trying to cram in a skyhammer that is less effective then just 1 dev squad with grav cannons in a drop pod for 30 more points than 1 dev squad in a drop pod. Yes i know they only get 3 shots, they're still WAY better than 1 MM and 1 GC for 290 points.

I would suggest dropping the 2 black knight squads and 1 chapter master for a libcon with at least 4 libbies on bikes, bump the DA libby up to ML 2, Change the CM to bike Gorgon's chain, Powerfist, Lightning claw, auspex, from whatever thing you have, and either run the whole skyhammer with MM for maximum vehicular murder, HB for maximum pinning or find enough points for AT LEAST 2 grav cannons per dev squad and kill some wraithknights.

I do see what you mean erjak. I was trying to present three small death stars. They're extremely resistant to shooting (provided it's coming from front-on). I agree they aren't quite as tough in CC (besides the eternal warrior chapter master and his unit). I think it could work, but would need to be played carefully - only engaging nasty CC units with the EW chapter master's unit. This list doesn't have as great psychic needs, as it isn't the end of the world if one of the mini-stars folds.

However I think you're right about trying to do too much. How about dropping the techmarine + his knight unit, and losing the whirlwinds to beef up the skyhammer and get the gorgon's chain in there? I'm not so keen on going down the psychic domination route tbh

The new supplement allows you to take both IH and codex relics in the same detachment now so you don't have to say clan raukaan.

You still can't take melta bombs on black knights and melta bombs in general aren't great except on skyhammer assault marines where they are quite good. Drop the thunderhammers for powerfists and save 5 points, neither character give a flying F*** what initiative their enemy goes at so TH aren't that useful.

Culexus needs a pod until the FAQ comes out. i would drop both LSS and melta bombs and just use the scouts to camp objectives and use infiltrate to give your army room to scout against other scouting armies.

At the end of the day though, I still believe that 1 big star with psychic support would be much more useful than 2 small ones. You will be amazed at how fast the smaller one dies in a competitive game and even the 2+2+3++2+++ one won't last that long without invis.

If you do want to run double small deathstars though, you're pretty close in terms of point efficiency and it would be mostly playtesting from here.
