I have being playing KOW where damage is counted by the use of a dice on/next to the movement tray.

I have been developing one base for each unit for a unit standard. I also wanted to be able to put the damage dice on this base (I use D10's). I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about how to ensure that the dice did not fall off the trays when the unit is placed on the side of a hill etc? I was thinking about making an indentation in the tray but thought that this would look somewhat odd (and also d10's aren't as simple as d6's would be to do this for).

The other thought I had was having some kind of putty on each tray that would be only mildly sticky (and so they could be pushed into this), but am not sure what kind of putty would be suitable/how to make it.

Any suggestions?

I'd say some poster tack but honestly why not just set the die on the front of the front line's legs where it'll stay? assuming they have legs of course

I'd be tempted to look at alternatives, like counters or metal dice or something

How about modifying the putty idea to solve the shape problem. Each side of a d10 will be the same shape, odd as that shape may be. If you press a die into a blob of greenstuff on a base then you've got an easy custom fit counter holder that you could then paint up to blend in with the rest of the unit's basing.

I think you hit on the best method yourself - an indent or set of indents in the movement tray to accept the dic(e) needed.

If you're worried about the look make terrain-textured 'plugs' for the holes while the dice aren't needed.

Use some rocks or other sturdy basing terrain to define the hollow for the dice.
