Does anyone use the rules of a model for a different model?

For example has anyone used Grave Guard rules for Executioner models in a death army. Or used Exalted deathbringer with spear rules for a particularly nasty Stormcast Hero with a big spear?

I figure there's no rule against it and model descriptions are so vague the possibilities could be endless. Has anyone done this?

Yeah ive mounted my chaos hounds on bigger bases so i can run them as flesh hounds or normal ones. also my unit of skullreapers has the champion built up as a wrathmonger and i field them as either. my misses has a slaneesh army we built made up of d-elf/w-elf/d-eldar/slaneesh-deamon models kitbashed or almost complete run as what ever we wish, theres even a aracnarok centaur as soul grinder. If your clear with your buddies whats what it shouldn't matter its just a game.

I think this is absolutely fine and within the spirit of the game providing the substitute, counts as or proxy model is reasonably similar to the 'proper' model in size and stying.

For example, I think it would be fine to use a Schleich dinosaur as a Seraphon Carnosaur, but not a 1/72 scale Renault FT17 tank.

Also you want to make sure that all your 'counts as' carnosaurs are easily recognisable as the same monster, in other words not to use a Schleich dinosaur, a Schleich elephant and a Schliech camel as carnosaurs.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
