Can you look out sir the 6 on a stomp table by using a model outside the radius of the stomp? Or is the character simply gone?

RAW now no because it does not inflict a wound to look out sir. However both the very popular ITC FAQ and rule changes state that you can and the new FAQ draft also says you can LoS.

Out of curiosity, how do you accomplish that? You can only LOS within your unit and to the closest model. Stomp occurs late and you would have had to pile in already.
That the model is outside the stomp's area of effect would not make a difference, or would it?
Help me out here, I can't to see how this would work or be of any use. Or is it because the closest model(s) are going to be gone, I can't LOS to them in the first place?

Why wouldn't it work? LoS just moves the wound to the next closes model to the character. As long as there are models to move the wound to (and are within 6" of the character) it works fine.

What I meant is that you can LOS the "hit" or the wound. Always to closest model, who is probably within the stomp range also. Combined with the pile in moves, there's most likely no chance for anyone to be outside the stomp range.
You can't apply the wound to someone who's been stomped with a 6 at the same time.
So how do you make it work?

According to the new FAQ, LOS attempts can be made against Stomp attacks. HOWEVER, said FAQ does not give permission to use LOS when LOS is not "triggered". As stated earlier in the thread, LOS is allowed when wounds are allocated to the character. The '2-5' results on a Stomp do allocate wounds and would allow LOS (as per the FAQ), however the result of '6' does not allocate wounds, but rather models hit are "removed from play". So no LOS on a "6' result
