My squad of 5 assault marines keep falling over! I haven't even attached their jump packs yet and they can't even stand up! Anyone have any possible solutions to keep them firmly rooted on the ground?

If it helps, I have then on 25mm bases. I haven't decided if I'm going to switch them over to 30mm or not with the rest of my marines.

I glue nickles underneath the bases. They keep them weighted down pretty well.

1. glue quarter (or nickel) to a 25mm base. This keeps all matter of space marines from falling over.

2. Use 32mm base, not 30mm! 30mm bases are round lip, instead of beveled, and are used for WMH and others -- and are the wrong size for 40k. Yes, this helps. A LOT! At least, with plastic marines; mine never fall over, even the really tall ones on the leaping bases. I haven't put an old metal assault marine onto one, but I assume it would help, too.

Yeah the bigger bases will definitely help. They give a more stable platform for the model. The gluing a penny to the bottom helps too.

Another alternative solution is to use resin cast bases that are solid. Also I highly encourage using 32mm bases for marines. The difference is both awesome and drastic.

I do this for my marines and they both look great, and provide a little more mass underneath the marine. You can also use a small drill (or dremel tool) to bore a small hole out of the bottom of the resin bases to add a couple of small fishing weights to the bottom, and then seal the hole with some super glue to add a little extra weight if need be. Just be sure to wear a mask if you drill or sand resin, as breathing the dust is a bad idea, it's very toxic!

Here's an example of one of my assault marines on a resin base:

That base weighs almost as much as the mini, including the jump pack, and I have had zero issue with tipping even when placing them not quite level.

Hope this helps. Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

Glue the feet to the base further back or forward. Generally a mini's centre of balance is to the front because they are leaning forward running and or waving power swords or heavy weapons around.

You'll notice that slottabases don't have the slot exactly centre- this is to allow you to place more base where its needed to balance the miniature.

If they are constantly falling backwards, you glue the feet more to the front of the base, leaving more base back there to steady them.
If they are falling forward, you glue the feet back and there will be more base there to support them.

I have had good luck with going to a local DiY store and buying washers to the exact size of the base. Glue to bottom and it just makes the bevel look a few MM's thicker, and is much heavier than a nickel or quarter. It does cost though. Where I am .20 to .32 depending on base size. I particularly use this when I am using a prop to lift the miniature off the ground. For example my Seraphim. http://edwardmystcreations.weebly.com/sisters-seraphim.html

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Mine always fell over, I had to repaint Dante twice because he fell totally off the table.

Now I have them all on 32mm and it's much better!

32mm base.
Glue a coin to the base.

Also helps if you leab the centre of gravity over the middle much as you can.

Cool, thanks to everyone for the replies. I totally did mean 32mm bases, not 30 LOL. I bought the 100 pack from GW.com and planned to re-base all my regular marines and have enough extra for the marines that are currently not built. I'll take the advice and re-base the jump/assault marines as well.

Wow, GW has a 100-pack? Just curious, how much is that?

Not that I'd buy it; I think I have hundreds of extra 32mms already, lol.

One thing I did to on a very top heavy one, custom chaplain with metal extras etc..

I built the base up and overhanged so it placed the models centre and yhr main body of the model over the middle of the 25mm +weight it ment its steady as anything.
