Here's my latest addition to my Blood Angels -- A Forge World Mk3 Techmarine. Like many Forge World models, it felt like I spent twice as long prepping the model as I did painting it, LOL (it isn't actually THAT bad; I just don't enjoy the prep part as much). The first time around, I missed a nasty mold line running right down one the left side of the face; I ended up catching it during base coat, and had to strip it to fix it.

Still, I love the model. I think I will go a little nuts when GW finally gets around to plastic Mk3 minis

As always, thank you for taking a peek and I appreciate your criticism and comments!

Really nice red tone, and a lovely clean pain job.Excellent!

Maybe it's the bright photo washing things out, but I think it would benefit from more significant shading.

It is a typically clean and sharp pain job, though

Nice paint job. Did you struggle putting him together? Because it does bot seem to be sticking for me. I spent about 40 minutes just getting the servo arm on the backpack. Cheers.

@WarbossDakka - The servo arm into the backpack went in easily for me, but the backpack itself was a nightmare. I almost requested a replacement backpack from FW because it looked so cruddy.

On my copy, the torso detail was really good, especially in the front (where it matters the most). The axe was also very crisp; however, the bolt pistol, as is common of FW bolt pistols, fell short, and the insides of both arms, especially around the gauntlet area, was not quote soft on the detail, with jagged edges and rounded surfaces that were difficult-to-fix.

I do love the 30k tech marines. Much nicer models than the 40k models- less is more IMO. I have the MkIV guy, and he's fantastic.

Bit of critique though- I think if you'd gone for a darker shade of red, you could differentiate between the two factions he represents. ie Khorne Red for the Mechanicus and Mephiston Red for the Blood Angels Legion/Chapter. Personal tastes aside, great work as usual, Talys!

Thanks, Insaniak & angelofvengeance

He's painted Mephiston red -- same color as all the other Blood Angels I've been painting recently. I only use him for 40k (don't play 30k). I love the 30k FW models when they're done, but I hate the amount of prep they require to get them to the point where I can actually put a brush to the model I'm also not a fan of fine resin weapons, as they are quite brittle and tend to break when dropped :( But, I think this is the nicest techmarine model available atm.

@talys - I love the paint job, super clean all the way around. All I can think of when I see his face though is the guy talking to Agnes in Despicable Me "Ah Oh, looks like someone's got a frowny face!" LOL That's not your fault so much as their face sculpt.

Super crisp all the way around boss. Are you going to put his chapter badge on his right pad in the future? Hard for a transfer with that pad, no?

@Castellan Alaric - I'd love to. The problem is, the left and right shoulders are matching, ridged ones that are very distinctive, with one shoulder having the Mechanicus symbol. The facing shoulder can't accept a transfer, nor can I imagine a way to sculpt something onto it.

I briefly thought of masking it and airbrushing a BA emblem, but I'm pretty sure it would turn out like crud. I could probably freehand one, but I just don't think it would look "right".

If I ever find something that would work, I'll do exactly that, though Or, perhaps, I'll buy another model, and do both shoulders with other (matching) shoulder pads. I'm a real sucker for sculpted shoulders.

What about a freehand blood drop on the upper panel of the shoulder pad, a chalice in the middle, and 'BAAL' on the bottom?

Love the model, and the paint job fits it quite well. The red is very bright and would draw the eye to your model in a sea of others, well done.
