Subject: What do I need?

Dark Angels Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Recently, I've been seeing Infinity models more and more... And I want in!
I've done some looking into it, and I want to collect Nomads, because I think they look cool. I was going to get the Nomads starter pack as well as the Moto.tronica scenery pack. What else would I need to play a game at home? Are there codexes? How many D-20 do I need? Can I use Citadel super-glue? How about paints? Any information for someone starting out is much appreciated...
On a side note, could I use the Moto.tronica scenery for 40k? Are they in the same scale?
Thank you.

1. Rules and army builder are free online, you don't need to buy the rulebooks. There are no faction books, with exception of RPG, however that is a different game. 2. Four to five D20. 3. Probably, I've used variety of super glues. I can't imagine Citadel not doing the job. 4. I use mostly citadel paints. Painter that does studio models uses Vallejo. Vallejo (model range) colours have more pigment and comes in more handy bottles. 5. Buy a starter, paint it and then get something you like. I'd recommend grabbing Jaguars, Bandits and Intruder. I'd also recommend grabbing another scenery pack. One pack is enough for 3' x 3'. 6. You could use the scenery for 40k as well.

I'd recommend getting the operation icestorm starter set as it has the nomad starter plus an exclusive mini and terrain and dice(plus a pan o side for helping get others into the game)
All the rules are available online plus there is a army builder which makes list building easy.(no codices)
http://infinitythegame.com/
Dice wise think the max one side can use 5.
Citadel superglue will work, and any paints will work.

Oh, by the way, are there any particular blast templates, or are 40k ones compatible?

Army lists are also free online as downloads (like the rules).
It's more or less the same scale as 40k.
You just tend to use fewer models for a game, on a (normally) 4' x 4' table.

Thank you! I'm going to order some bits and pieces over the weekend. Automatically Appended Next Post: How many miniatures will I be looking to buy for a small, medium and large game? How many points will the starter set get me, and is it enough to actually get started on?

The templates are not compatible to 40k ones AFAIK.
The Starter is more than enough for small games and less than 20 in most cases even for larger games. Depending upon builds of course. The system divides your "army" into Groups of 10 or less and for smaller games (less than 300pts.) you will most likely only have one Group.
The Starter set I believe is 200 or less.

40k blast markers and templates aren't compatible with Infinity. However, if you look in the download section on their site there should be templates available to you to print. 150 points: 7 - 10 models (estimating) 150 - 250 points: 10 - 15 models 250 - 300 points: 13 - 18 models This is what you get in the starter, without fiddling with other options: Nomads ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) GRENZER MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) SPEKTR Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31) MOBILE BRIGADA Lieutenant MULTI Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 39) 1.5 SWC | 132 Points 150 points tend to be starting games. Adding a plain Zero would give you exactly 150 points.

Poke around here also: http://www.data-sphere.net/tag/starting-with-nomads/
It will give you some ideas on where to go from the starter.

Downloads are here http://infinitythegame.com/archive.php
Get the N3 rules, the Human Sphere rules, maybe the weapons and profiles lists, and look at the ITS missions too, and under the Markers sections get those sheet.
Start with smaller games, to learn. 200 points or so. Normal size is 300 points which is 10-15 minis per side generally.

It is actually a little bit more. You forgot to add the Reverend Healer that also comes in Operation Icestorm.
Also to the original poster, the Operation Icestorm comes with a seven man PanOceania army as well. I think both armies are at like 160 to 170 points each.
