Do the worshippers of the emperor believe in creation myths ?

It probably varies. The only common theme throughout Imperial religion is that the Emperor is the God. Outside that you can believe he's the King of Pink Elephant mountain or the Creator of Existence for all anyone cares.

This is why it interests me.

I haven't found any reference to the emperor being the creator in any of the fluff that I have read ( admittedly I haven't read that much imperial fluff ). So if he isn't the creator then who has created the universe and could it be that they worship (or credit it to) an other power ?

I would doubt they credit another power as that implies there's a God other than the Emperor. They could just go for it's always been there and always will be.

The IoM doesn't seem to care about anything that came before the Great Crusade. Everything after that was obviously the work of the Emperor (which is partially true).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

The IoM certainly doesnt look on the Emperor as being the creator.

I dont think they really care

I am not aware of any fluff that suggests a imperium wide creationist view but I recall some individual planets that have creation myths but they are not in accourdance with the teachings of the eccelsiarchy

The way I see their holy book: Genesis is probably half a page, but Revelations is 9/10th the book.

The specific theology and mythology of the Imperial Creed varies by planet. There are certainly some worlds that view the God-Emperor as the creator of Life, the Universe and Everything, but there are others that don't concern themselves with anything before the founding of their planet (recorded in M33).

As with so much else in 40k, the only correct answer is "it depends".

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Yea, this is the impression I get as well. Everything before the Great Crusade was Old Night (aka Age of Strife). The Emperor brought salvation to humanity and that is all that matters for the average person.

The creation myth of the Imperium is the creation of the Imperium itself.

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

Although at least on Terra up to the moment of the Emperor's sacrifice, there are lots of mentions of the "Catheric" faith, which I assume to be a descendent of "Catholic" where people do believe in a God other than the Emperor.

ohh of course. religon was alive and thriving until the Emperor moved to wipe it out. then it mostly went underground. however it never really went away, and became the basis for the varying Imperial Faiths. much like how the Catholic Church (any many other churches throughout history) co-oped elements from past religions, the Imperial Faith did much the same. I'd not be suprised if there are many planets where, once you look past the emperor worship etc, their faiths and services would be reckongizable as having a root in many of the existant faiths of modern times.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

There is a chaos 'creation myth' which is listed in Black Crusade, which sums up the chaos gods quite nicely...
it begins, for example, with the gods setting the 'ground rules' for the universe:

"...The Warrior declared that the strong should ever rule the weak.

The Prince declared that the heart should ever rule the head.

The Grandfather declared that all that lived should one day die.

The Deacon declined to name any law of his own, but reserved the right to make exceptions later as he saw fit...."
