I just purchased my first airbrush and it is opening my eyes to a whole to portion of the hobby. I play an uncommon space marine chapter (exorcists) and I am curious if there has been a website that has created stencils for the various space marine chapters. Why recreate the wheel if I don't have to right?

You should check out Fallout Hobbies. They make tonnes of airbrush stencils and decals.

I recently bought some, although I did have some shipping problems. It took 3 months to get to me apparently because I'm in Canada.

I think they also have an option where you can make your own custom stencils too.

While the fallout ones are nice I would *not* recommend them for a beginner - they tear disturbingly easily for fine detail after the first 5-6 uses.

Since I sincerely doubt there's Exorcist 2d iconography pre-built anywhere besides Hangar 8's Dawn of war 1 badges, you're probably going to have to make your own. A vector graphic (probably 2, one atop t'other for the skull and detail on the horns) is what you'll want, and for that i'd suggest inkscape. This + a mail order laser cut on extruded acrylic or plywood will solve your flat surface stencils perfectly, and you may even get relief style iconography out of it as well.

As you're probably want to do shoulder guards too, the same method will work with polyethylene film - this is the stuff they use to make tablet covers and such, and it washes quite nicely.

Happy airbrushing!

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

I suggest buying a device like a Silouhette, and cutting your own out of masking tape, like Frogtape Delicate. If you're going to do any volume, it will save you bundles of money; plus, you can print things any size you want.

I imagine the tough thing about doing Space Marine stencils is that you often want to put them on shoulder pads, getting a stencil to flex around a shoulder pad is going to be tricky.

It's not easy, hence the suggestion to get a silhouette or similar to cut stencils out of masking tape which isn't too hard to apply as long as the symbol isn't too tall.

Personally, I chose my new chapter symbol based on what I could get in etched brass.

Yeah, I have a silhouette myself, I still wouldn't fancy my chances of getting a stencil of a symbol on to a shoulder pad of a Space Marine, I think the tape would just crease up. I guess some symbols you might be able to get on, maybe an Ultramarines one, probably not a Space Wolf or Salamander one.

There's also a minimum size that will come out well. I haven't been able to successfully cut text out of tape smaller than about 6mm high (the lines of the text being less than 1mm). Out of vinyl I can get down to about half that, but it sometimes comes out a bit skewed and vinyl is even harder to wrap around 3D curves like a shoulder pad.

Brush 4 Hire also have a couple of Space Marine stencils for airbrush. Might be worth looking into.
