Ok... so I am not one of this game's excellent painters... but I am very proud of my weekend of SBG painting, and thought I would share. The photos aren't terrific, and for that I apologize. Likewise, and I never want this to be an excuse, but I temper expectations by pointing out that as a severely disabled person, with the use of one-hand, painting isn't always the easiest for me. That said, I am finding painting SBG a joy. Maybe its accumulated frustration with scale-creep, heroic-scale craziness... but something feels GOOD about painting ten things in the time it would take to do a Rhino, or something. :-p

I'm mostly happy. Birch-Ent was the toughest, and the pics don't show off some of the nice, IMO dry-brushing, etc. I still have to flock them/do their bases, but I did also paint the Ruins of Osgiliath pictured. :-)

Looks like a VERY productive weekend, well done!

I think the results look good, too.

One hint with the pictures - When you open a pic from your gallery, underneath is a text box titled "Forums:" . If you copy and paste that into your message, then your pics appear as a clickable link, so people can see them all without clicking each one

For instance, from your first link pasted below:

Agreed, splendid stuff! The Birch Ent is actually very effective, even if the pics aren't doing it justice, and I really like what you've done with those Grimhammers!

Thanks on both counts guys!

Today I have a unit of Woses and Ghan-Buri-Ghan on my plate. :-)

I'll probably update this periodically, as I feel like it might help inspire some so-so painters like me to realize there is still joy to be had, even if we aren't top-tier painters. :-)

I think you have nothing to be ashamed of with these paint jobs. All the figures look really nice and anyone deserves congratulations just for getting stuff painted! I hope you share more of you work in the future.

Thanks so much for that. :-) I'm actually pretty proud. Painting models was something I was never made to believe I COULD do growing up, so I didn't have the nerve to dry until my, now wife, bought me an old 40k starter and pushed me to try.

To say it became not only a passion, but a really powerful rehabilitational/healthy exercise for me, is to understate how much i've grown to love miniatures gaming, and the hobby.

And despite having been at it hardcore for years and years now, SBG has clicked with me in a way no game has prior. Its the first time everything has clicked and I love the setting, the models, the scale, painting them, and definitely the rules, all at once.

Dude they look great, and very inspiring. I've been wanting to paint my Ents & Eagles and only recently got the new Gwaihir, but I'm waiting for the Shadow & Flame Miniatures restock of their resin ents before I dive into that project. I like having an entire army ready to go before I start painting
