Can Genestealer Cults take fortifications? They fulfill a CAD (if you take them that way) so does this mean I can take something like an aegis defence line?

Yes

Edit: You can spread the HQs between detachments, so several CADs and therefore fortifications are possible as well

As long as the Detachment they are using has a Fortification slot, or the Formation allows for a Fortification, you can take one.

So for example, if you take the Ghosar Quintus Broodkin, you cannot take a fortification with it, as it does not allow it. If you take a CAD, with the Genestealer Cult faction, you can take a fortification, as it has a slot for one.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
