Hello Everyone!

First time member here, looking for feedback on this Imperial Guard color scheme.

I am pretty new to the hobby, so I have been fishing for a good Imperial Guard color scheme for a while now. I threw this one together in about 5 minutes so its not the best, but it should at least give you guys a general idea. Let me know what you all think, I have mixed feelings about it despite trying for over a month to figure out a nice way to paint my guard. It seems a little bit too "busy" and I think I might need to do the pants and shirt in one color possibly to even this out, but what color? I like the 8th Cadian scheme, but where I am able to play I was told flat out that people will refuse to play against "generic cadians" so I tried to make something kind of close but still different.

Thanks!

I think it looks good, but I agree that top and pants should be the same colour. The dark green or the brown would work, I'd personally go for the green though. I'd suggest running a modelling knife down those mould lines too!

Also what does your meta have against Cadians?

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, those colors are all nice together, but all at once on one grunt seems a little too much now that I look at it.

I will definitely trim the mold lines, I got these guys off ebay with absolutely awful paintjobs so I figured I'd paint over them first to test some schemes before giving them a good bath in simple green and a fresh start.

I have no idea what is up with the people in my area, there is only the one shop where I live and the people there apparently don't want to play against "generic cadians" or ultramarines and the like. Other than that they seem like an ok sort.

What do you think would be a good paint scheme for vehicles if I kept part of this paint scheme, or if something was altered? Maybe a grey/steel base with a restrained US 80's style Woodland Pattern Camo?

Thanks again!

Strange that the generic is so disliked in your meta, do you have many Eldar, Tau, GK, or Necrons by chance?

Anywho regarding the vehicles I'd suggest thinking about where your regiment prefers to fight and model/paint around that. I wanted urban with my Cadians, so the fatigues are grey, as are the tanks, and the bases are all rubble strewn (and you guessed it, predominantly grey).

In your case if you went for the dark green scheme for the uniforms then woodland camo tanks would look great. If I were you I'd google some images of real life soldiers (modern or historical) and look for some inspiration

I actually quite like the whole dark grey/green/brown colour scheme...though personally I think it would be better if the boots were dark grey or black or something, it would help define them against the pants a little better

...it's good to be green!

Yeah, its pretty odd, a lot of Eldar, Grey Knights, Space Marines (50% of which are Space Wolves) and a few Tau. Haven't even seen an Ork or Necron player here yet.

Thats a really good idea on painting them to match the table they are going to fight on, I didn't even think about that!

Good suggestion, I like the leather look but maybe black boots would help for contrast.

So I think I am going to go with the darker khaki/brown color and grey flak armor since it matches the tables I usually play on, and I will do a different color trim on the uniforms to signifiy the branch they are serving with (blue for artillery guys on basilisks, red uniform trim for tank commanders, etc). Do you guys think that is something that would look neat?
