I finshed my scouts except for the hair and was wondering how to do it.

Its basicly a plain area, so how co I get detail in there?

ah the SM scout flat top. when i did it i gave him brown hair, highlighted the little ridge at the front to a very light brown, then layered up to another 'stripe' of light brown at his crown. highlights the front and back nicely.

I'd say it depends on the chapter. Blood angels for instance are all gonna be blonde (base black drybrush up to brown then yellow then bone highlights), something like raven guard or dark angels would have black or dyed hair (base black strong grey/blue highlights), iron hands probably have funky metal hair, etc etc.

I always cut more or less light paralel lines with my hobby knife to give the hair more structure.

A little drybrush will give you the hair definition that you need. I used Pallid Wych Flesh on these guys, I think. If you click in the image, you can zoom on the distressed fellow where the hair is visible.
