War Walker Pilot with Withering Fire

There's a tournament locally that's using the current 40k codices but with some older rules - namely, that only troops are scoring and only a single CAD can come. I don't have much experience with that style, so any advice? How many troops are important to bring? It's a 1250 pt game.

Imperial Guard Landspeeder Pilot

On moon miranda.

At 1250pts, being at least 3 Troops units, but probably not more than 4 for most armies.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

The old rule of thumb I played by was 1 troop per 500 points, give or take. This was with SM.

My average 1,500 point list had 2 full tac squads and a 5 man scout unit.

Of course, there was a lot less firepower on the table back then, so I might adjust that up a little these days. Maelstrom would also effect things.
