Due to the sheer nature of Games Workshop's ludicrously expensive hobby, and being the short and moderate sizes their products are are......

Have you ever been tempted to snag a couple of miniatures/Citadel paint cartridges into your coat pocket and just walk out the front door?

I see it happen all the time at my local games store.

People would make a purchase, they'd ask for a bag, go to the back of the store where the war gaming models are at,
and leave with a few additional products. Sometimes they do it with backpacks too.

If war gaming wasn't as expensive as it already is, do you think this type of theft would still be an issue?

What are some of your stories?

If people can toss aside their honor and integrity for a few dollars, that's sad for them while they hurt the store they steal from.
It's clear they don't give a gak about anyone but themselves no matter how they whine about high prices. No one forces them to play these games, they elect to be pieces of gak on their own when they steal.

they are not hurting GW but the store which barely ecks out a living to stay open.

also i've seen people shoplift from a dollar store, it doesn't matter the price, its all about getting something for free and disrespecting the store and society.

If your stealing from a model shop you need to have a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

What kind of pathetic person steals a toy for themselves. If you can't afford a pack of space marines, then there's nothing to justify stealing it. You don't NEED them.

No. And anybody that is tempted or has actually done it should be of ashamed of themselves, because they're now criminals.

Wargaming is not expensive. Gamesworkshop is. I've reacted to GW's ludicrous pricing by turning to their competitors instead, and so should you.

Yes but I would nver do it, it is alot less about steal then it is the bargin with myself of which I want to buy now and which to buy later where I stair at them for like 10 minutes and try and reason with myself.

Thats why my local owner told me when I want to buy somehing put it on the counter to the side then go for a final walk through because more then once I bought something ran back inside and exchanged it. Only to get home and regret it.

So the anwser is yes getting lots of toys is tempting. But no I have never stolen or taken anything with out paying because it is wrong and I would hate myself. If I do not want someone to take my stuff I cant take theirs. Tempting but impossible just like jumping off a bridge and flying away.

Everyone is tempted to get what they want for free andhose who say they armt are lying. But everyone should know better because stealing hurts people and no one no matter what deserves to get hurt because you think your intitled to something due to price.

Everyone is tempted to steal at some point in their lives. I'm sad to say when I was in junior high school I gave in to that impulse once (and got caught). It's not worth it.

Even if you think GW's prices are stupidly high (and they are ), it all boils down to one simple truth: STEALING IS WRONG!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I did it in the past when i was a kid - all grown up now and not living in poverty i wouldn't dream of it and even help my mate police his FLGS when i'm there. You aren't a criminal forever in my book.

Tempted yes, primarily to see if I could get away with it. There's a lot of things I've been tempted to do just to see what would happen--both legal and not. It's just simple curiosity.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

On moon miranda.

Everyone has been tempted to do something like this at *some* point in their lives, lets be real, and I can't think of a single person on earth that hasn't violated some sort of law at some point and couldn't be labelled a "criminal" as such.

That said, if you're over the age of 20, you really should have stuff like this out of your system.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

No, and although I don't like Games Workshop very much, I don't try and blame them for my own moral failings, or pretend that Games Workshop shouldn't have been in that neighborhood dressed like that.

People don't steal because GW is expensive, they steal because GW demographics favor 13-19 year olds, and this is the population most inclined to shoplifting. If they were hanging out somewhere else, they would be stealing something else.

While you see them as expensive, they're actually cheap - really cheap. You know what's actually expensive? Bail, and lawyers, and fines, and jobs you can't get because you have a criminal record for stealing a few bucks worth of paint.

(Adult) people who steal trivial things like miniatures are pathetic. Stealing is sinful and evil. I can have symphathy for people who steal to keep themselves alive or who steal for an otherwise good purpose, but stealing something trivial like miniatures is morally reprehensible no matter what way you look at it. It is completely different from stealing essential items.
People who sink so low as to steal such trivial items deserve to be in jail.
I can honestly say that the thought of stealing miniatures has never even crossed into my mind until now, even though I used to steal quite a lot as a kid. Like when I was 10 I stole a porn magazine from a supermarket and I also used to steal lego pieces from my friends whenever they weren't looking. Evil little me...

No, to me that would feel like stealing from a house that someone has invited me into.
Not that I would steal from other places, and I have been fething destitute more than a few times, having to pick between looking clean for work and eating that day. I just can't hurt people.
