Hey guys,

I'm trying to come up with a profile for a Chief Librarian which is based off of the Librarian profile, and I feel like what I have so far isn't very good. So what I'm hoping for is that I can get some feedback on the changes I've made in order to head in a better direction (if I'm not going a good direction already haha).

Chief Librarian - Profile

Take the profile for the Librarian and make the following changes:
-- Base Cost: 110 Points
-- Mastery Level: 2
-- ML Upgrade to Level 2 becomes ML Upgrade to Level 3 (with same points cost).
-- Wounds: 3
-- Initiative: 5
-- Attacks: 3

All other elements of the Chief Librarian are as they are in the Librarian profile.

What are your thoughts on these changes?

Would you make any other changes that I haven't made?

Cheers guys

I think you've got the profile down good enough as it is in line with other chapters chief's, Improved chaplains and captains.

I think the points seem slightly off, you're paying 20 points for an extra wound, attack and initiative which is a super good deal (especially the wound considering perils) plus you gain the ability to go to ML:3. This makes all the other HQ options seem pretty redundant, I would always pay for this guy.

So I think he should be increased in points to maybe 145, makes him pretty expensive compared to the other options but he is clearly the best. Add in something to make him stand out as a bonus rule, don't need to be very powerful just a minor bonus, perhaps like:

Force Master: When casting the Force power he manifests warp charge on a 3+.

Master crafted psykic Hood: His psykic hood range is 12" instead of 6".

My two pence :-)

Maybe you can choose one power or type they gain a bonus on at start of game. Represent one they mastered over all others and there's highly skilled in its use. Small bonus like above.

Small, but pre game, no mid fame switch etc.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I like this idea because let's be honest - once you get to the fluff equivalent of ML3, you'dprobably specialise.

And fair enough on the points cost.

As for your Force Master idea, I feel that should be more of an upgrade you have to pay for, and could be applied to a Type f psykic power of the player's choosing.

The extension of the Psykic Hood rule is a very nice idea. They are a CL after all haha

I think 115pts base is appropriate, considering Tigurius is a lvl 3 psyker with ungodly abilities for 165pts, and Ezekiel is 145 pts for lvl 3 and some very good abilities. In the C:SM codex, he'll realistically never be chosen over Tiggy unless he is significantly cheaper.

6000 pts
2000 pts
2500 pts
3000 pts

I quite like this. Nicely done.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

The more I think about it, the more I begin to agree with what was previously said that 115 points is too cheap. A middle ground might be best (along the lines of 130-ish points) which would put it in the sweet spot points-wise. And I think the comparison to Tigerius only really makes sense when talking stats (since not everyone plays Ultras haha).

A ML3 Chief Librarian should be able to pick and choose his powers you say?
And manifest powers on a 3+?
And be able to shut down enemy psykers from far away?

Why, fellow loyalists, these are fascinating ideas. Why don't you step into my sanctum and discuss them further.
