Hey so quick question here and need a anwser. Ironjawz army btw incase the new name makes no sense to you either sounds like someone talking with a studder.

Since AoS is suppose to be a fun do what ever game do the models you use really matter or what weapons/mounts they have?

I am doing a fluffy ooorrrukkky army and was dedicating one of the brawls to a pure fast attck unit. Since you cant upgrade any boss to have anything but the normal can I just slap him on a hairy pig and say there is my megaboss? Like there is only one type of megaboss and base size doesnt matter soooo? Ya or nay? Also in the pamphlet of rules they do not say the model has to be the one they sell or to a certian scale. Hell they do not even say it is wysiwug.

Bases are supposed to be non-existent RAW.
We play that you measure from the base as our only house rule as it's the only rule that seems annoying/nonsensical to us.

Most of the current AoS players I know are very laid back. That is actually one of the advantages of the game's current design---people actually talking and negotiating about the game they're about to play.
Should be fine as long as you and your opponent know what your and his models are/are armed with.

I say 'Go for it!'.

In short: do what you want. If you play in an event that has a basing regulation then you'll want to have the correct size base. Holy Wars is one example whose rules include a base size chart. SCGT in 2017 will require round bases. And so on. Also, if you play in any event (or probably any game ever) you'll measure base to base, just like everybody does.

I've always been a big fan of WYSIWYG, and at an event it will matter.

Playing a club game? As long as you discuss with me before the game and it isn't every model in your army, then sure do whatever.

I prefer WYSIWYG because it makes things more clear on the table about what you are dealing with. Thats my own personal quibble.

On the one hand the models don't have (at this point) magic weapon options so everything is on the scroll and WYSIWYG is nice but not really hard to achieve. As long as you and your opponent know and have the scroll readily available should be all good.

You may measure to the model and not the base in AoS, but remember that the model has a 'footprint' just like a base has. A 60mm base has larger footprint than a 25mm base, and a Maw-krusha will have a bigger footprint than a Night Goblin. Your conversion will need to have a similarly sized footprint to the stock model.

As for weapons, you have some units like the Orruk 'Ardboyz which have differently armed models within the same unit. For units such as these, you will need to be able to easily distinguish which weapon option each model is equipped with.
