So apparently according to the novel I Am Slaughter the Skylance was a gunship used by the Thunder Warriors and early Astartes during the Unification Wars before being replaced by the Stormbirds.

I've only managed to find this tidbit about them over at Lexicanum, but is there any more info out there about these craft?
