Hi there,
Today I bought Fulgrim and Angel Exterminatus, thinking they were the 3rd and 4th book of the Heresy, but, apparantly, they are the 4th and the 5th !
Is "The flight of the Eisenstein" directly related to these books or I can read it after ?
Thanks

No, you do not need to read any for a follow up except the odd one. Book summary

Spoilers!!!!! Kinda

They build big ship single marine blows big ship up. Book didnt matter.

It's set at the same time as Galaxy in Flames but it's not essential for those two books no. Also, Angel Exterminatus is the 19th book in the series but it basically follows from Fulgrim (there is a novella, the Reflection Crack'd, between the two but I don't think I read it til after AE).

Angel Exterminatus feels very much like a stand-alone book.

It's set after the Dropsite Massacre but with the exception of some Iron Hands after vengeance in it, it's mostly Fulgrim and Perturabo and their interactions.

Fulgrim is really just focussing on Fulgrim after the Dropsite Massacre.

There is little to no cross-over and you won't confuse yourself or spoil the books by reading those three particular ones in a different order.

Flight of the Eisenstein is one of my favourites though out of the three (I've read most of the 40K Black Library Heresy series)

Thousand Sons: 3850pts / Space Marines Deathwatch 5000pts / Dark Eldar Webway Corsairs 2000pts / Scrapheap Challenged Orks 1500pts / Black Death 1500pts

Saga: (Vikings, Normans, Anglo Danes, Irish, Scots, Late Romans, Huns and Anglo Saxons), Lion Rampant, Ronin: (Bushi x2, Sohei), Frostgrave: (Enchanter, Thaumaturge, Illusionist)

You're thinking of Battle for the Abyss.

Fulgrim is the EC before the Dropsite Massacre.

Oops, my bad. Fulgrim ends with the battle of Istvaan V.

You don't have to no, but FotE is one of the better books in the series. Imo much better than Angel Exterminatus and Fulgrim.

I have yet to read Angel Exterminatus, but I enjoyed Fulgrim.
It was very interesting to see the EC and Fulgrim 's fall, and, to my mind,it was it was credible/believable.
Very pleased to see the events of the others books from another point of view, too.

Flight was the first book in the series I started with (huge Death Guard fan). From what I remember, it's self contained enough that you wouldn't need the other stories.

To avoid confusion, the nice folks at BL have put up a reading order for everyone who wants to read stuff in a more or less chronological order:

Know no fear is the best book in the HH. IMO.

I suggest First Heretic first though! skip Battle for the Abyss though, that book was pointless.

It is fairly well self contained but I think it is read best when paired with Galaxy in Flames

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
