Currently I have about 765 points of models sent to me by my uncle and I was wonder what you all think I should add to this. I've been painting for 5 years now, but i've only just started playing in the past year, so i'm pretty new. The army currently includes:

HQ: Illuminor Szeras

Troops: 1. Necron Warriors x10(DT Ghost Ark)
2. Immortals x5(Gauss)

Elites: 1. Deathmarks x5
2. Triarch Stalker(Heat Ray)

FA: 1. Canoptek Scarabs x3

HS: Canoptek Spider(Gloom Prism)

That is my current army including all of their starting wargear. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to get me army up to 1000 or 1500 points?

You have a good start. Another squad of Warriors should be top priority. Deathmarks in units of five don't have a strong enough impact. They need to be 8-10 strong to be useful, so you can pump that unit up. Wraiths are an all-around useful unit and if you get a box you can form a Canoptek Harvest. Using what you have, with a handful of additional purchases, here are some list ideas.

10x Deathmark
Stalker w/ Heat Ray
10x Warriors in Ark
10x Warrior
5x Immortal w/ Gauss
3x Wraith w/ Particle Casters (Casters are a little expensive on Wraiths. Whip Coils are the go-to upgrade, but I bought them to use up points)

1500 POINTS
Decurions start to get good around 1500 points, but Illuminor Szeras can't be taken as the leader, so you'd have to buy a bunch of models to make a Royal Court. So, here's a combined arms. I run combined arms all the time and it's perfectly fine. Don't let other Necron players dissuade you. To make the jump to 1500, I'm recommending another Warrior squad to take advantage of the Stalker's +1BS ability, a Night Scythe for the Immortals and another box of Wraiths to make six formed into a Canoptek Harvest with the Spyder and Scarabs.

Thanks, for your advice, i'll write this down to keep track of it later. If I wanted to run a Decurion, what sort of Royal Court would you recommend? Just a simple Overlord, Lord, and Cryptek, or something with some characters? I personally enjoy Szeras' ability to modify a squad of warriors or immortals, but should he stay in the court?

You can run super friends, which is Nemesor Zandrekh, Obyron and Orikan the Diviner. That's stupid and cheesey though.

I would keep Szeras as your Cryptek because it's fun to run the Necron named characters. They all have cool themes for building lists around. Regular Crypteks are fine and you can give them relics like Veil or Solar Staff, but I find they do better in CADs. From there you need an Overlord to lead the Reclamation Legion and another for the Royal Court. A standard load out is Warscythe Phase Shifter. After that a regular Lord with Staff or Hyperphase Sword is good to attach to those T5 Immortals.
