So, I've finally decided after 4 years to get this painted up.

Going with a very clean finish on these - nice subtle blends and sharp edges. It'll probably take me a good while to finish the set...

First up is Omnio.

Excellent! Digging the base he's on too. Kinda fits his stance and model.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Judging from your first, it's going to be a beautiful set Winterdyne. Always a fan of your work

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I feel a bit the opposite. Lovely brushwork but the entire thing is thrown off by the base for me. I'm not familiar with the models - is that how it comes with the boxed game?

Yes, that's exactly as it comes. All I'll be doing with the bases for the marines is painting them black. I was toying with the idea of basing them up for 40k, but then, I've not played 40k in well over a decade.

Great job.

Which colors did you use to highlight the black?

Vallejo Model Colour blue-grey (very much like oldschool GW shadow grey), Vallejo Game Color heavy bluegrey (slightly bluer than codex grey, about the same brightness), almost but not quite pure Vallejo Game Color dead white (a little of the bluegrey added to knock it back a bit).

The trick to black is VERY subtle blends and very sharp extremes.

I've got a friend who was also thinking of putting the Terminators on 40k bases, but he decided not to when he realized that they wouldn't fit into the spaces on the Space Hulk board very well.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.

I did say this might take a while... managed to squeeze out Zael. It'll be fun trying to keep things consistent over the duration...

I always found consistency to be a hard thing, I'm generally done with a certain kind of mini after just one, then again I'm exceptionally slow in painting and modelling.

Fantastic mini's!
