Hey guys !

I'm toying with the idea of making a small 500 pt Minas tirith army and need some help deciding what to do.

Spoiler:
ok so the list is as follows so far:
Warband 1

Faramir,
Heavy armour,
Lance,
Shield,
Horse 95

10 Osgiliath veterans
5 shield
5 shield + spear 95

Warband 2

Beregond
Horse 31

6 citadel guard
Longbows
Horse 108

Thats all I've got so far.

Thanks in advance

Personally, I'd leave Faramir on foot (keep the Harmour and swap the Lance for a Shield) if you're running him with Vets rather than Knights, they really need to be close to him to be worth their points so you don't want him tearing off on a horse and leaving them as basically expensive WOMT. The points saved on the Horse can buy another Spear Vet (to support Faramir himself in the battle line) or go towards a banner, which I'd say is well worth it given the boosted Fight stat of the Vets near Faramir, gives you a re-rollable 1/6 chance to auto-beat Orcs and other F3 or lower enemies.

Citadel Guard with Longbows are a good call, the only thing I'm not sure on is why you've mounted them. They've already got good range and you're probably better off putting and keeping them on a vantage point rather than going for mobile archery, you want maximum accuracy with the Longbows. I'd add some Knights of Minas Tirith to fill the cavalry role, rather than having the Citadel Guard try to do both.

For an additional Warand to bring you up to 500, and keeping with the Osgiliath/MT theme, I'd suggest maybe Cirion or Madril (depending on whether you want a fighter or the chance of some reserve shenanigans) with 5-6 WOMT with shields and the same number of Rangers with bows and spears, to form a shooty shieldwall. Alternatively, Damrod and some Rangers would leave you a few points left over for something else, maybe some Fountain Guard or even Swan Knights.

Hey thanks for the help man, I totally agree with Faramir being on foot and not mounted with his veteran friends.

The citadel guard is literally just a rule of cool haha

An updated list is below !

Spoiler:

Warband 1

Faramir 80
Heavy armour
Shield

10 Osgiliath veterans 95
5 with shield
5 with shield and spear

Womt with banner 32

Warband 2

Beregond 31
Horse

6 citadel guard 108
Longbows
Horse

Warband 3
Madril 55

6 Womt 48
Shield

6 rangers 54
Spear

It currently stands at 503 points, what do you think ?

Very solid list indeed! Though by my maths you're a bow over the limit (12 Bows in a 32 model list)

Aren't the Citadel guard only 16ppm?

Banner with F4 is always nice, good idea.

Are you intending to use the Citadel Guard as a St3 bow harassment unit? I'd almost say to cut one or two to just allow you to take more numbers. I'd be worried for you against armies like Grey Company or Moria hordes.

By gosh I think you're right, they are 16ppm ! So that gave me enough points to wriggle things around.

Basically add another veteran with shield and I'll have 499 points and enough models for the number of bows right?

If you want to go en masse with Faramir and Beregond, perhaps try:-

Faramir w/Heavy & Shield
6 Osgiliath Veterans w/shield
6 Rangers of Gondor

Damrod
6 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/shield
6 Rangers of Gondor

Beregond w/Horse
11 Knights of Minas Tirith w/shield

That should work out to about 500 points (don't have the book to hand, so going off of memory, forgive me if it's a few points out one way or the other!). Hits the 33% bow limit with 14 shots per turn, has almost 40 models (a very respectable number at 500 points), and a solid heavy infantry force to hold the centre as the anvil whilst the cavalry hammer smashes in from the flanks. Not huge on might or big heroes/monsters, so your job would essentially be to wait for the enemy to come to you whilst sniping, and then just grind them into the dirt.
