not really sure where to go from here. main thing i wanted advice on is just using single zoanthrope squads just for the warp charges while they hide at the back, is it worth taking 3 in one squad for neurothrope? or i could push up behind malanthrope bubble and maybe snipe out a vehicle but i feel im relying too much on 1 of my 4 flyrants getting warp blast. not sure whether hive guard pushing up with shockcannons is a worthwhile option considering you may aswell just walk the zoans up the board at 18". i heard about someone just using tyrant guard to camp objectives what about zoans? thing i struggle with, as all nid players do, is AV13-14 my flyrants have no problem with any av12 because they can glance to death with S6. I have tried Hive crones but they seem more an anti air choice than an anti vehicle one, i face alot of imperial knights and land raiders. considering tentaclids are one use only are 50% chance to hit and vector strike at s8 is ok, still 6 to even glance av14, but by then you cant turn around to vector again because 90 degree pivot. But just to keep my flyrants safe maybe 1 hive crone for some anti air anyway.

Please comment, Any advice appreciated

Well the "best" way to handle AV is don't. In other words kill everything else. Your best answer is the Electro Grubs on your Tyrants, a Haywire Template solves many problems.

That second CAD needs two Troops though dosen't it? That might be where the extra 15 points go? The main source of "extra" points I see is Toxin on the Hormeys...there might be a better place to spend those points... (Personally I would just buy more gaunts )

You have Plenty of Synapse. And having a bucket of Warp charge lets you try to counter your oponite's psycher tricks. My strongest desire is to add a second Mawloc to the list, because they work better in pairs...but you'd have to trim some nice things out to make it fit. So I suggest you play a game or three and see how it plays.

Good luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!

your 3 Zoans can be replaced with 1 Hive Crone, take Toxin Sacs off too for the extra points to fit the Crone.

Crones are better at killing and harder to deal with than Zoans.
4 Haywire Missiles, S8 Vector (D3 vs fliers) and a S6 flamer.
Add E-grubs to Flyrants and a Crone no Vehicle will stand a chance

Zoans you have to Roll the Power, they get to deny, then you have to roll to hit, after than see if you Damage, then roll the chart. Its an extra 2 rolls over normal shooting, I would never take one personally.

@pinecone77 I thought it was an Ally list so he only needs 1 troop.

Thanks for advice i do see crones taken alot in competitive lists but maybe you need a pair to make them worth it but its 50% hit chance with tentaclids on tanks. even with malanthrope cover are hive guard with shock cannons not worth it? ofc vs av13-14 impaler cannons would struggle with their crap AP aswell. im not sure how you figure out the statistics of everything and would love to know how you calculate them. so the extra 2 warp charge points not worth taking for 50pts a model what about 3 man squad with neurothrope?as for the hormas ive used a meatshield screen of termas forever and tried toxin hormas recently and they did really well. i been fielding them behind a squad of vanillas termas for cover first turn. although always tempting to put in mucolids and take something else but i feel i have no melee counter without them, apart from the mawloc and thats a maybe. but if i took the crones there wouldnt be much on the ground worth protecting.

here is the list that won me 2 tournements in a row

1500 pts

Flyrant 240
Flyrant 240
Flyrant 240

Mucolid 15
Mucolid 15
Ripper swarms x3 deep strike 45
Ripper swarms x3 deep strike 45

Malanthrope 85

Barbed hierodule 565

That leaves you 10 points ... ( give a tyrant poison or whatever haha )

This list gives you great coverage on the ground with barbed + malanthrope and you can Deepstrike your swarms to win objectives. Moreover, you still get 3 flyrants to do the dmg !

Like the list alex and i have recently been thinking of a barbed hierodule but what about naked solo tyrant guards for objective camping instead of rippers arent they harder to remove? ofc they will only be for objectives near your deployment but with more fliers you have options to go for more.

Simple, reapers can claim objectives every turn and line breaker, which tyrand guards wont ever do. However, another viable option is to fill troops with mucolids and put some lictor in your list so you never miss your deep strikes and you dont have to worry about synapse.

Again thank you for the tips they are useful. your right rippers can deepstrike and will have obj secured too. just worried about what to use to cover objectives in my own deployment zone the malanthrope will be ok with one after the flyrants take off. im thinking of running this list next to try it tell me what you think:

Hive Fleet Detatchment

Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers + egrubs - 240
Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers + egrubs - 240

Mucolid spore - 15
Mucolid spore - 15
Mucolid spore - 15

Malanthrope - 85
Lictor - 50
Zoanthrope - 50

Hive crone - 155 (proxy)

Mawloc - 140

Allied Detachment
Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 x TL Brainleech Devourers + egrubs - 240
Mucolid spore - 15

1500pts

Its starting to feel to me you have to either go mawlocs or hive crone and you kinda need 2 crones in a list aswell. I feel one of each isnt a good idea but i will see.

ermm you cannot ally with yourself

an allied detachment needs to be a different faction

Change the ally to CAD,
Remove Zoanthrope.
Add +1 mucolid to CAD.
Give your Warlord Fighter Ace
or add more mucolids.
