Measuring range in this game is very unusual and I was unable to find exactly how to do it correctly. So I'm assuming something range 4 means four squares. How would that be measured when shooting at something not straight ahead or 45° to the side of you?

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

diagonal is penalized in movement, not in shooting. Thus, just follow your finger along the shortest route to the target, and there is your distance.
