BSides Firewarriors and Pathfinders all float around in the tide-wall destroying things at will while riptides move around grabbing objectives and blowing up more stuff. A little light on anti IK but we can glance most anything to death if need be. AV14 is gonna have to get dropped by riptide HBC or a lucky tank hunter shot from the TL rail on the tide-wall.

Thoughts? Discuss? Is this a Trolling list?

Nope. Light-sauce.

a. Your AP2 is only from the Trip-tides. XV8s can add a lot more (see 'e')
b. Ethereal is a double shot of Slay the Warlord for your opponent.
c. No Stormsurge (I don't own one either).
d. Pathfinders for MarkerLs instead of a Cmdr - babysat Marker Drone unit
e. No MSS + C&CN with a plasma rifle loaded Crisis Team

I advise:
1. Bond the XV88s
2. Go 2 HBC 'tides instead of 1
3. Swap out both HQs for a Cmdr suit. Either the MarkerD baby-sitter or an Irid Armored, PEN chip guy to join the b-sides for better anti-tank. dual MPs if joining the XV88s
4. At least one unit of PathFs out for MarkerDs
5. Play some XV8s with :
'Vre - MSS C&CN & VRT, add 4 to 5 buddies with dual PRs and maybe one with dual FBs, include a GunD or two for a Init4 to help with Hit and Run should they get caught in h2h

I don't own GhostHeels, but their short range guns are nasty.

Do you face a lot of terminators or something? The Ethereal is key to what I'm trying to do here. He gives the whole rampart LD 10 and gives each FW or pathfinder another shot at range 15. Stick him with 9 man pathfinder with 2+ cover and hes pretty safe. Thats a hecka lot of str 5 shots. The fireblade is needed to man the TL rail-gun. No points left for crisis suits - which I find to be pretty expensive.

This is why you always run an autarch with the banshee mask and a laser lance...

Seriously. Looks pretty gnarly. I'd go all HBCs on the riptides. Hail of Fire with the HBC and a couple of marker lights is so ridiculously destroy-the-whole-table...

Ethereal for 2 vps again
And if theyre in range for double tap, id say it goes either way for phew or mush.

250 something points in pathfinders
Markers instead, thats 2 4man and 2 5man for a drone net with bs3 markers which makes dual mp target lock dronesitter for 128 points more of an option to look at

I think brother could clarify what he means by bond.
If only takin 3 broadsides, id say group 2 and leave 1, more likely to be worth it if putting support systems on the 2 man.

Crisis footprint is larger now
Used to run 3 mans rarely
Ive dropped to 2 mans max whatever the loadout
And cibs are all over the place now for monat transport butrep

Usually split firewarriors into 6s

Only casual

And yet to get a riptide..
But looks like ion is a steal for 5 pts.
Id stick with ia majority.

Dual Fusion suits do good usually in ones or twos.

Cant remember much on the tidewall other than dropping the wall section for just droneports to fit smaller troop squads and free drones benefitting from drone net bs.

Was never a fan of the buffstar.

Didnt clock the missile drones.
I dont run them.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Note: only thing with points taken into account really is the drone swap for markers.

at range 15 and moving 6 inches from the rampart the first 12 man FW squad puts out 48 str 5 shots buffed by the fireblade. The other 12 man puts out 36 the 6 man puts out 18. All will be buffed to bs 5 and reroll 1s from the rampart. Thats like 26 heavy bolters man!

no new codex yet
hobby is slow with exams and abroad
will have to pick one up for the tidewall disembark and buffs details.
100+dice sounds pretty jokes
mechs and suits for me is why, but the new sculpts are great so i dont really mind whatever as long as its satisfying to see whatever is possible happen.

hardly think its trolly.
tend to have a measured kamikaze empra-hu akbar way of it on the table so far.

The rampart gives everyone reroll 1's to hit. The whole thing counts as 4+ defense line cover and there are some other benefits. The entire rampart can move 6 inches per turn and the models don't count as having move for the purposes of shooting (this means the ethereal pulse buff can be used and broadsides can shoot too.)

Cover saves of a 6 return an auto hit with equal str and ap to the shot made when behind the shield line portion (this should really makes people think twice about shooting your infantry with big guns.) It also comes with a TL Railgun mount that can gain monster hunter/tank hunter if a model gives up it's shooting. It also comes with 4 drones of your choice.

This is at least twice as useful as a landraider which costs 245. For 20 more points you get an indestructible battle base (thats right you can't kill it)

It's pretty neat. The problem is in my play testing anyway, it's so big you can't really move without running into other things. The movement aspect only comes into play really more with just the sheildwall.

Certainly not competitive though. Only semi. Drop pod heavy flamers ruin your day.

You want to do something funny? Take sniper drones instead of broadsides and a ghostkeel wing instead of the riptide wing. The ghostkeel wing will give all your firewarriors stealth and give the sniper drones stealth and shrouded. Now you have full synergies even if the riptide wing with all heavy burst is better because of hail fire.

That is a good point - need EWO on the broadsides too. No more drop pod problem.

It is not termies these days, so much as 3+ saves of marines, space wolves, warp spiders, scat bikes and wraithknights.

Then there are Articifer armored Wolf Dudes on big dogs that is Wolf Stars.

Tau lack in AP 3 guns, so AP 2 is the answer to the likely opponents above. Sure, high volume dice in the 21" threat range (tide wall and triple pulse rifle shots, all at BS yummy! ) is a nasty kill zone, but Battle Co. will out number it in target saturation, and scatbikes and spiders will out range it. Wolf Stars will sacrifice some puppies to Overwatch and then they assault. After Overwatch, it will not take more than one thunder wolf model per FW unit, in a multi-assault to take on and defeat 3 units of FWs on the tide wall.

A couple posters addressed having EWO on the tides, to deal with heavy flamer drop podding, which is a good idea. Well sited, Xeno, putting EWO on the b-sides, as they ought to cause an enemy flier to jink on arrival. EWO is less good on Ion-tides when the blastsl will be too close to your line of FWs. Again I recommend 2 or 3 HBC tides. They get the reroll 1s from the wall, yes?

Overall, the tide wall just seems like a death star, with death star issues:
A. A medium range one at that, so its threat bubble is easily managed
B. It is slow too and easily managed
C. Great theat bubble as you move forward, until you run into normal terrain and then the bubble stops, yes?
D. A wraithknight, more common than VD in the Astra Militarum, can wade through the Overwatch (it will be a hurt WK, but once in h2h ... ).

I am not recommending you dump the whole tidewall set up. But I am stating that if you're looking for tourney worthiness, the more static nature of this 'gun line' (my word) army makes it :
1. Prone to not getting objective missions scored well
2. Vulnerable to Wolfstars, eldar (which out ranges it), Battle Co.
3. Turn 1 three drop pod armies, and they're out there

I can dig skipping out on XV8s. Report back after you have beaten some Battle Co and elves.
