Orks are great. I mean, in the fluff. In the crunch however, I often find them lacking a specific something. A something I found in the tau. I have 499 points of Orks, maybe I could complete the army with a tau alliance sort of thing? Like a mercenary group of orks who work for the tau, or is there any case an Ork would submit to the greater good. Maybe if they join they get to fight more? I need to know if it would work.

Come the apocalypse is the ally level right or did I misremember?

If that's the ally level then that's very inconvenient especially since ork armies aren't that small generally. I tried once for laugh IG and orks with orks mostly in vechiles and boy it was tough to deploy.

Freebooters will work for anyone, and Tau are one of the few races that would be willing to "sell" technology.

I mean, I don't see Farsight, Aun'Va, or any of the special chars needing to resort to that, but I'm sure smaller, outlying colonies would have no such compunction.

Nah in our latest fluff we've decided the Orks are a lost cause and destroy on sight now.

which they can easily do with the easy to get Ignores Cover, the Gargantuan creatures, the Monstrous creatures the plethora of mid strength rapid firing weapons, access to cheap, tough, mobile infantry, JSJ and a host of other wonderful things they can do to Orks.

Ork Mercenaries are always a thing. It certainly makes more sense than Space Marines summoning Daemons on the battlefield.

The orks pretty much are history to us at this point since they haven't been able to do anything and any wagggh they do send is defeated easily. It's more or less business as usual in that regard.

Blood Axes was the merc clan for Orks if I remember right, or maybe that's just to humans.

My orks are blood axes, and the Tau wants to take them into the greater good. So, maybe the warboss has struck a deal. He has made it that his troops will work with the Tau, as the warboss helps the ethereals, as long as there are things to fight. Or some sort of manipulation of the warboss?

If I was that ork warboss I would meet face to face with the blue fish and after negotiating for a few hours, just casually reach over to shake his hand and instead decapitate him. That would be fun

That's the thing though the Tau would need to be dumb enough to meet face to face.
Instead they just send drone envoys, once the warboss gets board smashing a few up that don't fight back he may actually listen, especially if a gift of dakka is made along with the whereabouts of a good scrap.
Blood Axes and Freebooters are the most likely target for this but Deathskulls and Goths may be possible.

That's because Ghazghkull hasn't faced off against Tau yet. Ghaz conquered Armageddon, one of the most fortified Imperium planets - and he did it twice.

Reason why Ghaz hasn't fought Tau? He doesn't see them as challenging so he doesn't bother.

He doesn't see them as challenging because what Tau call tactics Ghaz calls running away.

My orks have acted as a merc group before in the narrative campaigns I have done with my friends. So, maybe they gave away a small moon that was owned by the Tau, yet served no purpose, to the Orks. The moon may have had the remnants of an empty Necron tomb or Imperium Colony? Something like that would work,

Sure. In addition, they promise the moon is loaded with lots of teef, dakka, and shiny gubbins for the Orks. The Orks then build a crude base and launch mercenary squads for the Tau

You can make anything sound op if you only list the good parts of the codex and not its weaknesses.

After the third war of Armageddon and before Octaria, Ghazzy took over Waaaagh! Urgok and continued with Urgoks plan to smash the Tau on Fangs World so he can see what these new Orks can do. Despite the experience those Tau had in fighting orks they weren't prepared for the onslaught when Ghazzy and his bullyBoyz are in charge. 704999.M41

Im assuming, (dangerous I know) that you mean that besides, Riptides, Stormsurges, Ghostkeels, Broadsides, Crisis Suits, the ability to remove cover/jink from any unit, the ability to share overwatch, the ability to increase ballistic skill to any unit and lastly the ability to take standard infantry with Range 30 weapons that are S5, besides all of that the Tau are garbage? or do you mean just those choices are OP? I have yet to see a Tau army without a riptide or 3, broadsides and a bunch of crisis suits. So what your saying is something along the lines of "Look look we have vespids and kroot and they suck, therefore our codex isn't OP!" nope, still full of cheese not your fault, so don't get defensive about it.
