A friend and I bought knights:renegade between us, and he later discovered a thread (not on Dakka) entitled 'the most evil model to make invisible'.

You can see where this is going.

The list is a little lacking at the moment, but here it is anyway:

HQ
GK techmarine w/ storm bolter - 93 pts
3 librarians, mastery 2, one in termie armour - 295 pts total

LoW
knight errant w/ icarus autocannon, melta - 410 pts
knight crusader w/ battle cannon - 430 pts

We figured we'd throw in a skyhammer annihilation force from AoD for good measure, to bring it up to ~1600 pts, maybe some upgrades to get to 1700.

So what do we think? cheesetacular, or an inevitable flop? Death star wraithknight-killer or waste of points? I appreciate any feedback!

So I would just like to clarify your Force Organization. So it looks to me like you are going to be fielding one Skyhammer annihilation force, one librarius conclave, one oathsworn knight detatchment, and a lone unbound Gk techmarine? Is this correct or are their other forces you intend to add?

Yeah I am a little confused why there is a lone GK Techmarine. A normal GK Librarian would be better off and much more useful and for only a few points more. A bonus you can roll santic and throw sanctuary out.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

You guys are looking at this come rely the wrong way. The most evil model to make invisible is not a single Knight. It's a tripartite Lance. Enjoy running that one. I've seen it with a Red Scorpion CAD with Loth attached to Grav Cents, its damn brutal. Have fun! Or, run Tigerius

The reason we included the techmarine was because my mate recently bought one. Are you allowed a lone HQ model in 7th edition force organisation?

No. You need troops like normal also

Ok, couple things, this is from memory since I'm at work so feel free to call me out if I'm incorrect. 1. Not only will you need troops, but the Gk techmarine requires an HQ for every one you take. You would need a minimum of say a brother captain, Libby, or champion, and troop, and then you can take your Gk techmarine (who doesn't take up a slot with I believe). 2. With the whole tripartite lance, that is a formation or 3 knights, 3 knights each being individual units. Unless the tripartite has a benefit that makes them one unit you cannot make all three invisible from one casting of invisibility.

If he uses the Nemesis Strike Force, he is allowed to have only a single troop. In addition, the Tripartite Lance takes 3 Knights and makes them into a single unit. Therefore all three can benefit from a single blessing, such as invisibility.

Well that tripartite lance is sweet then. But on the techmarine, I'm not trying to say he needs more than one troop, I'm saying he needs a troop and an HQ to take a Gk techmarine.

So with the tripartite lance, as others suggested, and dropping the basically pointless techmarine (technomancy can give you repairs) you make it so the list actually has a POINT which is a good start but you have a few BIG problems to work out.

1. The knights will outrun the conclave extremely quickly with no transport and be out of buff range

2. The conclave is EXTREMELY fragile as is, 1 t4 guy in termy armor isn't gonna last real long

3. You don't have enough rolls to reliably get the powers you need, you will absolutely need at LEAST invis and either the repair power or santuary and you only have a 50/50 shot at even getting invis

4. If they're not on bike ALWAYS bring Tigurius in a Libcon, he's worth at least triple his points considering his reserve shenans, basically picking his powers, and being able to cast 3 when conclaves can normally only cast 2

You need to put the conclave inside of a tougher unit, like a DA command squad to keep it safe, you need AT LEAST 4 psykers to get all the powers you want and you need some method of moving them around the table quickly, whether electrodisplacement, shifting worldscape or even just the DA +3 to movements warlord trait.

Great advice, but I have no cash :( so no triparite for me

1. remove techmarine, replace with razorback maybe? It needs to reamain under 1700 pts for the matches i'll be playing and the razorback could allow some mobility

2. Best I can do is regular SM command squad, that gives me an apothecary 4+ FNP should add some survivability

3. too many points again

4. no cash

In addition, I'm a cheap bugger, so using a GK libby isn't an option because he's already in the conclave as a 'counts as' SM libby
