I'm just putting together a small contingent of night goblins and was wondering if anyone has any sources on what they use in their armies besides the obvious. So far I have:
Night goblins
Fanatics
Squigs/herders/riders/manglers
Shaman
Bosses
I was wondering how likely it is that they have spiders, wolves, artillery, trolls, or chariots.
All the info I've read only says what I've listed, and I can only infer what would be practical from living in the dark mountains.
What do you think ? The next issue would be making any of those other units I've listed look like night goblins. Conversions ?

You need Skarsnik, for a general with decent leadership. Back him up with a BSB with Standard of Discipline. because the units themselves can't take magic banners. Add one or two cheap bosses for challenge bait.
All told Ld 9 bubble isn't bad.
I dont like using special characters, but for pure night goblins, Skarsnik is pretty much mandatory to make the list viable.

Or you can use a common gobbo profile to account for a particularly charismatic NG leader.
Not pure NG, but I don't think anyone will hold it against you.
There was a guy where I used to live that greenstuffed a NG hood on an orc warboss to make an orc raised by NG that eventually got to be their warboss (incidentally using his ld9).
Since the conversion was ace it got nothing but applause.

Stone Trolls fit well with night goblins, being mountain and cave dwelling creatures, common Trolls can fit in anything. Depending on were your Goblins are from River Trolls can work too, if theres rivers or Lakes in the Mountains. Bands of Common Goblins and Orcs can be running around attacking travellers in the mountain passes, that happens a lot in the RPGs. Perhaps your Night Goblins have an alliance with them, trading Squigs and Mushrooms for Warriors, or they have conquered them. Spiders are a fluffy addition, but you may want to change out the forest Goblins for Night Goblins. They could also bribe a Giant to fight for them with an endless supply of Fungus Ale
I tend to pick a location on the map my Armies from, and see what units makes sense from there. Then work there background around it.

Sure if you dont want to go faction pure, or want a counts as faction pure night goblin list the options open right up.
Model night goblin spider riders for one, then take an Arachnarok. Or put a howdah on a mega-squig and use rthe arachnarok rules etc etc.
The OP doesnrt need help with all that.

Thanks for the response gents.
@Orlanth. I do enjoy the idea of spider riders as night goblins. I wonder how much conversion work it would take to make them look good. I actually just grabbed some cheap spider riders off ebay. Perhaps just sticking a night gobbo on him and sculpting a cloak if necessary? I'm a novice conversionist and never have attempetd it, but could be cool.
@cpt_fishcakes. I agree with the stone trolls and I think they are totally plausible. I really like the old GW metal stone trolls so I think I'll end up picking up a couple of them. I hadn't thought of a giant, but I could see that as well. NG are all about trickery, so them having deceived a giant to fight on their side would be cool.

spider rider models dont have much below the waist as the legs fold up to nothing and IIRC they sit crosslegged on the spiders. So take night goblins cut them at the waist and model a splatter of cloth covering the folded legs. Done.
Not as easy as I just described, but you will need the sculpting skills, or just dont bother.
Spider riders are good, but making a rakky is probably the main shot. That is easy, take a vast squig, which means an old tennis ball add plasticine, build a howdah on top and fill it with night gobbos. It sounds like more work but I think its an easier modelling project than the spider riders and will have more impact on how your army functions.

Or do both for some more variety in the army. In my experience, converting the spider riders into NG is really not that hard.
